Scelidosaurus was an early herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic period, around 200 to 190 million years ago. Measuring about 4.5 meters (15 feet) in length, it was one of the earliest known armored dinosaurs, featuring rows of bony plates and spikes along its back and tail for defense. Scelidosaurus had a low, broad body with a relatively small head and a beak-like mouth, adapted for consuming low-lying vegetation. Its fossils have been found in what is now the United Kingdom, providing important insights into the evolution of ankylosaurs and their adaptations.
