Need your personal opinion

Discussion started by jackfurneri1984

Hi Guys and welcome back to CGtrader,

I would like to know if you guys have experimented low traffic in the last 3 weeks: before that time I had the feeling there was more traffic going on here.. I'm not talking about sales but for instance I encountered less "likes", less visits on products and things like that.

I connected that with the holiday period but I would like to hear your personal opinions please.

Regards,

Francesco.

I think what you are experiencing is CGT getting rid of free loaders. In my experience that is the only thing they do they download free models, occasionally like them and then disappear.

Do you advertise your models on social media? If you do that and find a group of people who like art that is a far better way of getting likes and views consistently.

A while back I did an experiment which was to put all my models up for free. I began getting views and likes like crazy but the instant I stopped everything went away just as quickly.

I believe what you see is CGT cracking down and trying to attract just people with wallets and interest in buying.

Hi Marvimation!!!
First of all, thank you so much for your advice. I tried posting my works on social media as well as on pinterest. Do you know any groups for posting work that maybe can make The difference?
Anyway thank you for your advice.

My experience is that holidays usually get a bit calmer, it should go back up now.

As marvin points out, displaying your work on as many hotspots as possible and get the traffic to your page definitely helps. Regularly uploading new things is also very important, usually when you post something new you get all sorts of reactions but after some time that fades out.

Hey Jack!

here are some more places you can post your content. Some of these I created specifically to promote artist friends of mine. Some of them became award winners. Anyone who wants to join our page and submit artwork to promote themselves is welcome to.

What iterateCGI said is very important when it comes to getting lots of views. People who have been selling models for a long time discovered that posting something new and exciting at least once a month gets people very excited about your artwork.

The online communities get bored very quickly if you only have 2 or three models and do not update your work or come up with new things to show.

It is a little like when we were all kids at school and we did show and tell. You need to bring something new and add to what you have to get people to come back to your profile.

That is the reason I cannot stress enough the value of revenue sharing and group projects that will enhance CGT and everyone's sales, views everything.

As individuals there is only so much we can do to create great top level artwork and keep posting new work on a monthly basis.

On the other hand combining efforts it can be quite easy and we can raise the quality of our models and bring more money to this art community.

Read my idea and if you like it you should share it with others on CGT community https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/topics/being-pioneers-sometimes-really-pays-off

Less traffic in your store is more likely just random fluctuation. I'm sure it will return to normal or even increase next month. My statistics shows only increase in traffic. Quite surprisingly there even wasn't summer break stall in july and august.
By the way, everyone who does at least few sales in month, can calculate average sales statistics on cgtrader platform and see by themselves how thigs rolls. From my humble observation with quite confidence i can tell you that things getting only better here. Average sells per day had steadily climbed from about 45-50 in the begining of 2015 (that's when i started selling models here) to about 120 in august of this year. And looks like september will be record breaking month (avg. 130 sales per day so far).

@limonadinis, are you counting free downloads as a sale?

I'm trying to make some sense of what you're saying, for example, your models are 15 dollars on average, douse this mean you earn 10 X 130 = 1300 dollars on average every day, so something like 39000 dollars each month?

Your reputation score is suggesting you are doing relatively well but according to above theory it should list over half million or something, I'm clearly confused?

Haha, i wish my sales would be that good :] Those statistics are not mine, but cgtrader's as a whole. I'm having just about 5-8 sales per month with average well below $15 per sale, so no, i'm not millionaire... yet ;]
