Cgtrader sneakily enrolls you into discount program!

Discussion started by LemonadeCG

Anyone who does not participate in cgtrader's discount program, check your profile - i got a new sale and found that it was sold at 50% of original price, despite the fact that i never participate in sale offs. I went to my profile and of course - all my models are being sold at 50% discount! And when i went to my settings, "participate in sale offs" was unchecked, as it should be. I had to check it on then off again, before discounts disappeared from my products. Luckily it was just a small sale and the loss is pretty insignificant this time, but nevertheless such incidents are not acceptable. If that would be $100 model, i would have demanded compensation from cgtrader for sure.

Yeah. I just found out about this myself, although I found out that the checkbox "Participate in Sale offs and other Promotions" was checked in my settings. Highly unethical behavior. That program was not even due to come into force until March 31st. I replied to their email on March 5th, saying I would NOT be participating.
I wonder what their excuse will be.

Yeah. I just sold model for 50% without my authorization.

How do we turn this option off?

I found this unbelievable!

I am selling my models for 29.9$, and this is the price I want them to be !

Does this mean I will have to double my price to account for potential sales off I don't want to be part off?

Btw, tnx Lemonade for a feedback.

I had this unchecked previously, just noticed they turned it back on for my account. Unbelievable!! Thanks for the heads up @LemonadeCG

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

This issue occurred due to a human error on our end, where certain discount-related changes were unintentionally applied ahead of schedule. Sellers who had opted out of participating in sales should not have been affected, and we deeply regret that this happened.

We are currently investigating the situation to ensure it is fully resolved as quickly as possible and that similar incidents do not happen in the future. If you or anyone else notices any further irregularities, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team directly.

Once again, we truly apologize for the oversight and appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to fix this.

Since this error was clearly on your end, is CGTrader going to reimburse the artists who were affected with this error?

I contacted CGTrader support, they said that it was my fault and that they didn't have any communication between me and CGTrader regarding opting out the sale off promotions. I guess it means I won't get reimbursed

But their statement said it was to go into effect on March 31st. That mistake happened before that date.

Yeah exactly, I said the exact same thing to them but they totally ignored it

This has been turned back on while I had turned it off for this very reason a few days ago, for a discounted sale that I did not allow. Unbelievable!

I also just found out, one of my model which was originally priced at $130 was sold yesterday for $65 because Cgtrader automatically turned on "participate in sale offs". I remember turning it off a few weeks ago...

Just got this problem too and those checkboxes were unchecked...

Cgt continues to turn discount on without permission even if you turned it off , just lost model that is sold for 50% of the price. This the third time (since this topic is created) that i have to turn discount off. To me this just looks like cynical cash grab.

This is unbelievable! Also happened to me, while I had expressely turned it off a few days ago, for the exact same problem. And I can’t even find the option on my settings page now! Where is it?

Look for the option to turn off discounts in my sales-discounts page. This shenanigan doesn't look like "human error", but rather a deliberate action. Shame on you cgtrader.

Click on your avatar and then click on sales, then go to the discounts tab.

Thanks, I finally found it. I did turn this off when a customer warned me not long ago. I'm really, really not pleased.

I haven't. And still, I unchecked it something like two weeks ago (it had been autamatically checked without my consent)

Welcome to new cgtrader, where decisions are being made on your behalf without your consent.

This is even worse—it's overriding your decisions! As far as I'm concerned, I unchecked that damn box twice. There has to be some kind of compensation!
