How to import png Textures into Cinema 4d?

Discussion started by ufgstudios

Hey there

I'm dead. I've no idea how to import these .png texture files into Cinema 4d.

I bought a model (.obj) and got 4 .png's with:

- blabla_1_ao.png

- blabla_1_d.png

- blabla_1_n.png
- blabla_1_s.png

But WHICH ONE IS FOR WHAT? :'(

Please answer me like this:

- Color = _d.png

- bump = _ao.png

... Or whatever!

Thanks!

Colour = blabla_1_d.png (diffuse map)
Ambient Occlusion = blabla_1_ao.png
Normal map = blabla_1_n.png
Specular = blabla_1_s.png

Note: a normal map and a bump map are different but essentially do the same thing but you might have to change an option in C4D to ensure that the bump is read properly. Ive used cinema before but not 100% how it reads bump/ normal maps.

I would guess that:

Normal = _n.png

Reflectance (used to be specular) = _s.png

Diffuse = _d.png

The ao stands for ambient occlusion, which would be a texture containing shadow information, so if you are using the model for a game then it would need to be multiplied with the diffuse channel.

Hope that helps!

Alright great guys. I tried it already in this way but wasn't sure if this is correct. Now I am!
Thanks
