More Categories, please!

Discussion started by orpheus

Hi,

I would like to see more categories for uploading 3D models. It's veery often, that i have to choose a category, which does not really fit.
Also for the subcategories there should be more choices. It does not really help, when you in most cases have to choose "other". And I guess, it would also be more useful for the buyers, to find what they need.

Best,

Orpheus

Hello Dietmar,

What categories do you feel are the most lacking from the website? I think it's an interesting and possibly helpful topic, all suggestions are welcome!

Agree, also miss some categories and sometimes need to place things in the wrong places.

e.g., some of my 3D motion graphics design elements are stored in architectural details subcategory others. In effect the models show up between house lamps, wall clocks and al sort of other real world in house elements.

In the first list of categories there is basically no option for things that are more artistic not real world oriented. So if you have something that is more of a free expression or Sci-Fi oriented item, then you will run into trouble. Luckily we have the tag cloud to compensate.

I ‘m agree too, so please do not forget the category of " toys ", because I work in it, then you could add in 3d-printing the category "molds", which have a real market to be able to produce ,

Thank you Dietmar, iterateCGI, Marcuus!

We'll have a talk at the end of this week (20-21 of August) and see what we can do about it

All the best,

It could become a bit crazy if we have too many in the drop down lists but there probably is a need for some more. I just noticed when uploading a tutorial there wasn't really any thing specific for it. Hopefully it will be picked up with the key words I have added. In the top search bar there are 98 others with a tutorial so they all must have just chosen what they thought was the nearest.

Hi everybody,
The subject is interesting, and I have some suggestions for categories if possible.
Category ,,Miscellaneous,, with subcategories : ,,organic shape,, , ,,abstract,, , ,,splashes,, , ,,fire,, ,,smoke effect,,…etc.
In,, Architectural,, (existing now) can be ,,structure,, subcategory.
In,, Industrial,, can be added ,,machine,, and ,,robots,,
In,, Watercraft,, is a subcategory ,,industrial,, can be a confusion with category ,,Industrial,,
Instead ,, Industrial,, subcategory from watercraft can be ,, industrial ship,, and ,, Passenger Ship,, or ,,cruise ship,,
Thanks and have a good day!

The categories are important in products search .

I do agree as well that more subcategories can really help buyers find the models they need. Turbosquid really has a lack of categories which can be a real frustration sometimes.
