flooding of free models

Discussion started by gamer-arts

seems the platform is being flooded with free models, not sure this can be good idea for sales as often the free filter is used ? maybe there should be a limit to how many free models can be listed.. e.g. https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models?free=1&author=ekobbr11

First of all it would be nice to add a filter that removes from search items created using AI.

IMO AI generated content should be either treated equally to traditionally crafted assets, or explicitly forbidden in the marketplace. Hiding them from search results, makes little sense, since cgtrader still has to pay for hosting them. Other than that, i agree with what you arguably wanted to say between the lines - it's funny how seller with models that has virtually zero value, complains about the other seller's low value models, that are not even competing with each other, because they are in completely different categories.

Yes, you are right regarding the message between the lines, but on Artstation (for example) you can hide all AI-items without any problem and all is good, everyone happy.

Sorry, it looks i misunderstood your message - i thought you're saying that cgtrader should hide AI generated stuff globally, but if indeed you are talking about an option for each user to choose whether they want to see AI assets or not, then i'm all in for that. I hide AI shit in all places whenever it's possible. Cheers.

Is an artist allowed to advertise their contact details for another site (Telegram) in the model description? The rules say that it is not allowed for sales purposes outside of CGTrader, but since the models are free...

The user in question is doing it on a few of their models. https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-print-models/jewelry/rings/the-best-tango-men-ring-4bc5591e-a71f-4520-aa27-4aca18ffacfa
