categories

Discussion started by ultra-in-order

this is a problem I've been having since is started to upload my work here on CGT, the categories are confusing, why there is architectural. exterior and interior categories when you can simply use Architectural categorty for all of them.

also i would love to see more sub categories, the ones we have are confusing and incompatable with our needs.

i would love to know how the search algorthem workj in the first place, instead of letting everyone spam the key words and worsen the experiance of the buyers

Interior and exterior are, in fact, sub-categories of the architectural category. So asking for more sub-categories while complaining about this is a bit confusing as well. ;)

Actually, I think the reason for this is because the Interior category can also include items inside a house or building which aren't specific to architecture itself. An example might be a kitchen table. The exterior is the same situation. It might include items that aren't always specific to the overall architecture category but can still be considered useful to architectural visualization. An example might be a garden hose. Of course, these items are "architectural", but also "household". So if you were looking for a garden hose in the architectural category you might be wasting your time, but in the same breath maybe the household is not the best fit either, but "exterior" works for all those types of models. It's just an easy way to make sure people can find what they need even if they aren't sure what category is best.

Of course, that's just my own personal opinion on it. I think you have a point, but I think Interior and Exterior are still good subcategories for both household and architectural. Maybe we just don't need to see those categories in the list, they can just be used by the database behind the scenes? Similar to how "electronics" isn't a visible category anymore, but it's still there behind the scenes?

Categories are a tough thing to sort out sometimes, for this very reason. It can often be very subjective.

Being new to cgtrader I really understand what you say, categories are confusing a lot of things I have to upload don’t really fit in any category.
