3d jobs ( fake jobs)

Discussion started by amir-mohammed94

Hi,

There is someone who posts his products on 3d jobs section every day.

I really don't know wether he is one guy or more than one.

I know that most of them don't know that this is the right place to upload their products on but also few days ago someone created a fake job and and wrote inside it "Nothing".

Sometimes I can't distinguish between real and fake jobs and sometimes I have to model a sample from the job before applying to persuade the client.

I know that you delete these fake jobs by the end of everyday but I think that you should put rules to prevent anyone from posting fake jobs or you can review all 3d jobs before posting them online.

Best regards

I think there should be advance payment rule for the 3D jobs. If someone looks for 3D modeller for a budget, s/he should give for example 30% of budget to cgtrader (will be blocked by cgtrader to be paid to designer) and when job is completed, 70% will be also paid to cgtrader for the payment of 3D designer. In such case, because there will be 30% advance payment for the post of Job, only realy jobs will be announced on the 3D Jobs part of the cgtrader and fake ones will be stopped. In any case, the one, who looks for designer will find one designer on this site and in the end he will pay the announced budget, for this reason, 30% advance payment for the announcement will not be a serious issue for the real jon announcers.

I agree with you also the 30% go directly to the chosen designer so he can begin to work and not waste his time in main time if he completed the job CGT do look at the job if it done give the rest to the designer and wait for them to press completed job as it happens with me now stuck with more than 3 month and no solution no money and he also don't respond to me

There used to be moderation of job postings on CGT, but people have many complaints about that. It was impossible to post job offering on weekends because CGT office is closed. On mondays usually there was batch of offerings, half of them already abandoned, or with expiration date near its ending. And despite moderation there still was many fake jobs, because moderators did do very lousy job. It's not that hard to distinguish scam or fake jobs from the real deal, especially if you automatically skip all those $20 jokes.

..sometimes I have to model a sample from the job before applying to persuade the client.
You should never do that. Your portfolio is good enough to speak for you and if some client still requests to do sample job after seeing your portfolio, you should skip such client without second thought. If you don't respect yourself, how can you ask the client to respect you?

Sometimes clients want something that is not available on my portfolio .. for example: maybe they want to model something that related to architecture field but most of my work is on vehicles, weapons or game assets so I have to show them that I am capable of doing that kind of work . It is not about respecting myself.

Sorry, but that's clearly indicates your lack of confidence, hence lack of self respect. As for clients that demands to make sample job for free, despite your good looking portfolio, they are either dumb as f**k, or trying to screw you over. Either way, i would stay away from such clients.

Sorry about the late reply... I think making a simple model for a client is a good idea. Most people here can make a model and render it so it looks awesome. But this doesn't tell the client if the modeller knows how to organize the materials or parts properly. Personally, I wouldn't hire a modeller who made a car model with materials like "material__123" or "blinn__123" (instead of "car body", "windows" and "tire rubber") and groups like "box01" and "sphere01" (instead of "Front Door", "Trunk", and "Front Right Tire"). So how can you tell this by looking at a photo-realistic render? :) On the other hand, the client shouldn't expect a fully-finished sample model either.

Well, if one needs properly named objects in scene, he can explicitly write such condition in job description. Simple as that. Personally i always do proper organisation in my scenes, including clear naming of all objects, no matter if i modeling for client, for selling or just for fun, but i know that about 90% of modellers don't do that, even if they are really skilled modellers.
