uploading multiple file formats

Discussion started by hend-z

Hi guys, I'm gonna start posting  paid models and there is something in this website I find confusing. When you upload a model you have to upload each format separately to ensure proper visibility when doing a search. So I want to know, if a client buy a model does he get all the files in one file or he has to download each file separately?

Also, I've seen people upload just one file and choose the format "other" then list all the file formats available in the description. Don't you lose some potential  clients? Like for example if someone is searching for a specific file format, let's say fbx, the format "other" is not going to show in search.

I just feel like it would be a lot easier if we have to upload just one archive file of the model with all the formats in it, and we get an option to check all the formats available. What do you guys think ?

Adding more file option to one big archive would indeed make sense.
Separate files mean separate downloads unfortunately.

I usually upload one Zip archive containing everything, and ad information about its content in the descriptions. This indeed makes the model escapes the filter option, however if you set it to other then it will appear always.

You can see the file options as a tagging system (3ds max ,fbx or obj etc.) the option "other" is no tag at all, so you can't filter it out.(models will always displays whatever filter/tag is used).

It would be even better if one could upload a file in one 3D software and the site automatically converted it into the others for you but I am afraid that would be pretty complicated to implement. I think eventually this kind of thing will be possible and become standard but we'll have to wait a few years.

As far as the rest is concerned I like how easy it is to just drag and drop files and upload everything at once. I used to absolutely hate using other sites where you had to upload everything separately or zip everything together and find it wasn't uploading correctly. As far as uploading is concerned this website is the best!!
