Too expensive or too cheap?

Discussion started by Guachinarte

Hi all, I'm struggling a bit with the prices for my 3d models. I'm sure, it's something everyone does :) and, it's a lot to ask, but I would be very grateful if someone could have a look at my models. Are they too expensive or too cheap for you? I know, it's a bad habit to set the price too low, I even increased the prices significantly these days. But now, I think that it could be too high, compared to others.

Here's my site, there's no need to check all of them, they fits more or less all the same quality.

Or maybe, just the most expensive and the cheapest one?

Thank you

Hi
I think they are worth more but I'm no expert. Maybe you should look for similar models on Turbo Squid and charge a similar price.

Hi, thanks for responding. That's the thing, you can find similar models from 5$ to 50$, haha

Are you not too happy with income you got from selling or you just not selling at all? If you're not selling at all (or just few models each month) it means they're probably too expensive. Of course we can argue that they are worth more, because they are really good quallity and such, but if you don't selling them it doesn't really mean anything. You don't have too much models here and therefore probably not much income so you can just try to lower the price significantly for a month or so and see how it goes. There is a lot of competition on the market, especially for that interior assets so they may be hard to sell even if they are good. Best idea would be to just try to match the prices of similiar assets in the store.

Thanks crazyyuan, I had lower prices for almost 2 years, and very few sales. What i saw so far is that lower prices is no guarantee for more sales. There are other things to take into account. But first, i would like to have fair prices :) sales is another topic.

Your prices looks pretty adequate to me. I would strongly advice against lowering them. Of course, to lower the prices is the easiest way you can try, but also it is the worst thing you can do. In the long run, global price reduction will hurt everyone, even the customers. What you can try instead, is to rise your visibility in the market - work on presentations of your models, advertise them as good as you can (no, cgtrader forum is not good place for that), try to attract maximum traffic to your shop. Remember, lack of visibility is the biggest killer of the sales, not a high pricing.

Also, if you're in process of expanding your collection, consider to explore different categories. Now your collection is exclusively focused in furniture - thoughest category to compete in. Try to venture in to sport, science, space or even animals/characters categories, if you have skills in organic modelling.

Keep your chin up and work hard towards expanding your collection in quantity and in quality - sales eventually will come. Just don't go the way, like this guy does: https://www.cgtrader.com/furniture-collection

Don't forget that cgtrader is giving you very powerful tools to see what's in greatest demand. Look at analytics in your menu.
