Price offers

Discussion started by zabotlama

Hi,

I would be very interested in opinion of other 3D artists about price offers from customers.
I have re-joined CGT (from TS exclusivity) only 1 month ago so I have no big experience with it.
At this moment I have disabled this option in my profile and here is the reason:

I think when there is a possibility, then every customer tries to offer discounted price (also customer which is able to pay full-price).
And I as a seller I have no possibility to distinguish wheather the customer is truly unable to pay full price or is sufficiently "rich" to pay it.
So if I accept price offers from the "rich" type of customer or from customer, who is in time pressure and really needs the model, than I am loosing my money and it is not good.
On the other side (with disabled price offers) I am loosing my money from potential customers with limited budgets.
Aditionally with 30% Sales the price offers give no sense because 30% discount should be sufficient for all customers.

There are many discussions here and on competitors forums about Sales (discounts) and many artists don't like it.
And I see many profiles here on CGT with disabled the "Sales" and "Loyalty programme" options.
But it's interesting that I see almost none profile with disabled price offers here.
So it seems that all 3D artists here like this option.

Thanks for your opinions in advance,
Pavel

I see it very simple, if you're participating in loyalty and discounts program, then cgtrader is in control of your prices, if you don't participate, no matter price offer status, then you're in full control of your prices. I quit those discount programs 3 months ago and didn't look back once. I think they worked for me as a seller at the beginning, but then cgtrader started to overuse it to ridiculous point and i felt that i don't want to ride that wave anymore. I wasn't sure if my decision won't hurt my sales badly, but luckily it didn't. It's still sad to see how majority of sellers here fights over each other who will offer bigger discounts or will set lowest price for their work, but i try not to react to things over which i have no control.

As for price offers, i like that option, because i can communicate directly with customer and from case to case decide if i want to give the discount and what size would it be. Discounts doesn't happen often and not every of them turns in to sale, so i feel perfectly fine with them. Funny fact with price offers, that no single offer that i've denied, turned out in to sale. I think that means that offers are used mainly by those that aren't in dire need of the model.

Anyway, if you're in chase after every single sale, then you should participate in sales and loyalties programs and turn price offers on. On the other hand, if you want to earn from each sale more, then turn everything off and be happy. However, if you don't know what you want, then i suggest to do experiment - sell on month with discounts and another one without and try to see what you like more :]

Our whole life is a game. You will never guess 100% who your petitioner is.
But I like to communicate with customers. Sometimes it's funny.
The woman asked me to cede a well-sold model for free.
As a result, in a few months she sent me a letter from Germany and a gift- flash drive.
Some beg and disappear without payment. But I do not hold evil against them.
I will say even more - much more likely that you will meet the future permanent customer.
My sales are not bad. Therefore, I can afford to give generosity in price.
I think that this is in favor of SGTrader. A satisfied buyer will always return to this system.

I do not like the loyalty program. 30% is sometimes a lot. It would be convenient if you can set your bet %
