Possible scam from buyer wanting model for free

Discussion started by 3DCarArt

Hi guys,.so a quick one, a buyer just purchased my 3D model of a McLaren p1(rendered in a small hangar) and sent me a message saying they suddenly realized after downloading that materials and textures weren't included, yet i had clearly indicated that in the description and now they initiated a reimbursement and i don't see any money in my PayPal account but on my sales tab it's there. I would appreciate any insight on this as I put in a lot of work modelling that car as one of my first vehicle modelling projects hence it's special to me. I wrote a ticket and also emailed support i don't know if that helps

Laser scanned model of 2017 Nissan GT-R for 50$.... Buyers on this site will never learn, that there isn't such thing as laser scanned 100% accurate car model with fully modeled interior for 2$ 5$ 10$ 50$ 100$, maybe for 1000$. Obviously this is Forza model, so what you did is came here to complain how someone "tried" to "steal" model that you have already stole...

Where is the wireframe ? Or you decided that is better to report this topic in order to hide the fact that you are selling stolen models?

All the models mysteriously disappeared... what a shock! Seller is probably busy making wireframes.

To be honest, your models description is vague enough to kinda warrant customer's dissatisfaction with the purchase. If downloaded model is significantly different from what is shown in preview images, that is enough reason to ask for refund. I also find it strange that you have been selling models on cgtrader for at least four years and still don't know that payments from sales does not go directly to your paypal account, but instead are collected by cgtrader and then distributed monthly, or biweekly depending on your preference. If the customer won't get refunded, you should get the money from cgtrader in the next month... that is if it's indeed YOUR model and not some stolen/ripped model from the internet, like tobiasrieper is claiming. If that's the case, then you can forget the money and say goodbye to your account. My advice to you - why to not upload clear wireframe images of the models, so everyone could see who is right and who is wrong? Wireframes are also tremendously helpful for boosting customers' confidence in models quality and are a driver to better sales.

Tbh, I've never really understood the payment duration arrangement of CGTrader up till now, i still had a bit of a processing/payment hitch even the first time especially the monthly arrangement, but sure ill upload the wireframes in a moment first thing i get the chance to.
