Model formats

Discussion started by DualPeaks

Hi All,

Just started here and uploaded my first model. I have quite a low score (5) and the main reason is the lack of additional formats.

I am limited in what I can produce, however, I am a little confused as to the best formats to offer for a 3D printable item. Is STL not the prefered standard format?

What alternative formats should I consider?

Thanks for any help in advance.

obj, fbx, 3ds, 3mf, amf

STL is of course one of the most popular.

This has come up several times before. The rating process, in some ways, is inherently, unfair. STL is the most popular format, but one of the ratings how many formats are included in the package.
There are also many, many models here that are not meant to be printed, so those formats will vary.

I agree, I found myself looking for another format to add, just to meet the site rating. It IMO would add nothing to the model and would just pad it with low value junk files. Still, I am stuck with a low rated model which will dent my ability to move up in the ratings, and that impacts site income. :(

the number of pictures and hashtags also play a role, take more pictures and use the minimum of 20 hashtags
