Ok, so I passed the arch viz test after 3 rounds & accepted my first task about a 2 months later for $20. It was to finish previously unfinished work by someone else. The brief was to amend some geometry and finish a few materials.

No preview images of the unfinished work were given only what the finished model should look like. I estimated it would take between 3-5 hours - it took me nearer 7 hours & I sent in for review. What came back were 7 amends, 2 of which were not briefed in the beginning. Not having the option to re-negotiate the price & having other work to do I had to reject the work back to them & failed the task.

If you're ok with working from low resolution images, extra work being added & 24hr deadlines when they can take up to 2 months to review then try it by all means. It's not in my opinion the freelancing career option advertised on the wildcat home page. Also when tasks appear they are usually taken within a couple of hours, then no more appear for weeks. You would probably be better looking for work in the freelance 3d projects section. There is a slack channel where designers can leave feedback & most of it is designers asking for things to be more efficient, but nothing seems to improve.

Didn't i warn you that it will be shitworthy experience? You lost 7 hours, but you gained priceless knowledge - those guys are searching for cheap workforce to exploit them to the limit.

I wasn't expecting it to be great from the feedback on the slack channel, but I always think it's better to try things for yourself & make your own mind up. So yes you are right about gaining knowledge, because it then means moving forward you are more aware of what's required to make any project a success.

If much more detailed briefing documents & higher resolution images of the minor details they are so keen to see, are provided from the start it's a better place to begin from. It lowers the chance of missing or not understanding what's needed & would give artists a better way of estimating is it's worth it for the price. Quicker approvals = happier clients.

My theory is what they are doing is basically reversing the high royalty rate given to artists on here from selling. So whatever a client is willing to pay for a 3d model CG trader keeps 80% and gives 20% to the person doing all the work.

I don't think they are so stupid and greedy. It's more likely that they're dumping the prices heavily to win the clients - that's the only practice they know.

It's hard to see with so much negative feedback on slack & low prices for work why they are continuing with this idea. Unless they have a pay per click agreement set up with their clients, so that they offer the initial model for free with unlimited reviews/amends, but once a model is complete & on an e-commerce site revenue is generated when an online customer clicks the 3D model view button?

Могу ли я рассматривать как постоянный заработок из этой платформу, и если нет то почему, и есть ли альтернативы?

Can I consider it as a permanent income from this platform, and if not, why not, and are there any alternatives?

Everything is sad, I was not paid, you fix one mistake, and then an another and another . The quality requirements are too significant, the pbr work was completed in 48 hours, don't waste time, this money is not worth it

For Beginner artist Wild Cat is good as they can learn PBR Standards etc.
But for experienced artists, the pay you get when compared to the work you do, Its not worth it.
Its not financially viable.

Hi guys, if the thread is still alive here's my experience:
I passed PBR assignment from after 1 round and the guy in the chat was super friendly. Hard cut to month later - I took my first paid assignment and the contrast is crazy! The support guy is raging at me in the QA chat that I'm still making the same mistakes even though it's the first time he's mentioning the issue, there are a lot of stuff I had to redo because none of that was mentioned in the briefing, QA comment about my ambient occlusion bake is "AO looks incorrectly". That's it... Ok, what am I supposed to take out of that? Sorry, that I PURPOSEFULLY made it incorrect, I'll get on it :D Overall I'm glad that I've tried it and could see for myself that this is a giant waste of time. I do not recommend it to anyone. The idea behind it is somewhat good, but the execution is not just half-baked, it feels like noone there actually cares about the platform's success... Good luck in your 3D careers, just not on Wildcat :D

Pretty much a mirror of my experience with it - i'd only heard bad things myself but wanted to try it just to see if it was as frustrating as everyone else had said. They should publish a set of guidelines showing the expected standard for maps/topology etc. with recommended workflows for different 3d apps. More chance of avoiding issues & it gives the artist the chance to say "i've followed your recommended guidelines". Not suprised to see 2 years on there are still issues.

Passing the tests will improve your skills as you will get very picky feedback. This is helpful as you will see the expected level needed to work at the highest levels. I wouldn't advise it as a main source of income for all of the reasons mentioned above, but do have a go at the tests.

Hello everyone.
I am currently working there. I had no income. And I had to work there because I had little choice. So I now earn $ 200- $ 400 a month.
Of course this is very, very rare. But I needed money to grow. I wouldn’t call that place that bad. They just actually ask for the requirements of the 3d model. THIS is also a good preparation place for 3d design for me.
The only drawback is that the prices are very low, but it can be raised. Right now I am given a price of 1.4 for each model I make. For example 10 $ * 1.4 = 14 $
or $ 44 * 1.4 = $ 61.6

lockiabel wrote

do you mean conversion from USD to your currency when you are mentioning 1.4?
CGyzen wrote

No, I’m talking an extra bonus. This is an additional coefficient of the price given to you. It will be multiplied by the amount of money you are given and the result will be paid to you. Ex: 100$ * 1.4 = 140$
dust455 wrote
they twist that bonus back with contrived rounds regardless of you.

I have completed several tasks for wildcat successfully, despite very high requirements and terrible automatic verification, which constantly fails and you load the same model several times.
I was not paid for the last task, although I made more and more edits to the model for a month, the customer finally accepted it. But I no longer had time to complete child tasks, to make several variants of this model in color, which was given 24 hours. And I was left without money for all the work done.
Now I can definitely say that it's not worth it. Their prices, even with a 2x multiplier, are not worth the effort

Hi! I didn’t know maybe it was worthless to work. But I don’t know where else to pay higher to me. Please share If you know of a place that pays a decent salary. And currently writing years of work for my portfolio. I can say that in my next work "I spent several years making 2-3 quality models a day"

Zero star for this bullshit!

*Pay is incredibly low. 500$ working normal hours, 1000$ if you work 24/7 like a donkey and are incredibly skilled.
*The AR viewer is pathetic at best. Materials render as black. These guys should learn from sketch fab.
*High quality standards that are not matched by the pay/service.
Do not waste your time here!

Here is how it goes...
Gets task for 30$ to be done in 100 hours.
Models in 24hrs and spends another 48 hours troubleshooting the automatic checker for it to accept submission.
Models remains in QA for 1 week.
QA assistant comments things like 'model just does not look right' 'the quality of your model is too low' 'you're incompetent'.
Uploads a revision.
Revision is accepted by QA after another week.
Now I have 3 more variations to do.
Does the the variations in 48 hours.
Variations stuck in QA for another week.
A whole month is now over and I have 30$, angry, depressed from QA comments.
If this sounds like your cup of tea, go ahead and apply for the platform.

The GGT brief... Please change and modify the design to avoid copyright strikes for the customer.
The CGT QA....Your model does not match the mockup.

WTF! is that!?? This website is a joke and a meme lol.
The QA then takes days to reply.
I really hoped that the reviews here were exaggerated and wrong. Boy oh boy was I Wrong!!

Well, I have made several models and earned some money.
However recently, I am doing less, they have a terrible system. the pay does not correspond to the level of detail required and the time required. In addition, the negative score makes your income decrease.

It seems that they put everything on their side so that you flee from the platform.

I have been forced to abandon tasks, because it is no longer profitable to continue.

Consider this before take a task.

Well, 15$ to complete someone's chair which topology was shit, spent several hours tring to get throught the automatic checker, nothing, i had to quit.
it's not worth it, now as freelancer i can ask around 200$ per day for complex models, that is what im doing, wildcat is really modern slavery
