What to build next?

Discussion started by flat-3d

In between creating models, I am normally trying to think of what to build next.

How do you decide what to build next to add to your product list?

Is it just a personal interest project you are working on, or do you go by the top keyword list, or is it something else?

I currently play Farming Simulator 2013 and looking to get some farm equipment made. Wondering if this is something you would be interested in?

The game runs off of Giants Editor so the it would need to be exported out of blender or whatever program as an .i3d file. I know Blender has a plugin for it but not sure on others. Also come with texture files so they can be adjuster down the road if needed. Let me know what you think or any questions.

I really am only just starting to even think about this,
Here is my Long winded wish list of stuff I'd like to buy reasonable priced :
Cool looking costume maybe starting with the helmet.
Camera rigs for more then a GOPRO .. seriously gopro are spoilt and every other camera make is just neglected.
(while we are at it lets do some cool camera stuff ... like a- barn doors and filter hood , focus rail holders , tripod mount for simple crane design , or perhaps some tripod mounts that are designed to hold more then a gopro...maybe even a flash bracket that holds a flash and a softbox mount for a flash to make it nice and diffused)

Armatures for stop motion .. yes it still happens that despite being rather good in 3d I rather like doing stop.

3d prints that would work as assembly parts -for things like interaction with sprinkler piper fittings to make more parts that are super light weight and work in combination of more cheap readily available units to allow creation of many things (especially quick to fabricate temporary shelters for things that need cover) Eg : lookup pvc pipe glasshouse... now imagine if you didn't need glue or special tools to assemble one.. you could dismantle it and take it with you (good for renters)

Car Parts : More models and more awesome sauce .. example custom door trims for cars , door buttons for older classics , Tyre tube caps that are custom looking (example a skull or a bird ect ) Seat Belt holder , air vents for certain models that no longer supply them , Window cranks for old cars that are difficult to find , Custom interior light covers
Custom Glove Box compartments .. this would be difficult to make but imagine the show off value it.

Cake : I actually had a request from someone to make a cake tier model ... sadly I didn't have a 3d printer and had to advise him to continue on in his search for custom cake tiers...

Really am wanting to get myself a 3d printer soon.

Thanks for all the ideas everybody. This is why it is difficult deciding what to build next, there are so many things to pick. Some 3d models such as vehicles and furniture are already in abundance around the web and some things are required in a different format which I notice my software does not export, and some models like car parts that are now discontinued would be more of a one off custom item.
It would be a good idea for CGTrader to have a 3d model request section for non-exclusive models as opposed to the 3d Jobs section where the 3d models are exclusive to the buyer. The main difference being that the maker/seller could then add the 3d model to his products to sell more of, which is not the case with the 3d jobs section.

Hi guys,

At CGTrader we are preparing in-depth infographic on that topic. Meanwhile you always can browse through our categories and look at the models at the top positions for ideas, study their quality. We use many factors (such as model's sales, pageviews, conversion, age, quality rating, attributes, etc) to show the most demanded content at the top.
