New to 3d printing

Hello I am brand new to 3d printing and i was wondering how I can tell which files can be used on a 3d printer for like 1/24 model cars? Thanks for the help.

STL. All other formats (OBJ, FBX etc) was invented for other tasks and intentions (or at least for more wide application) and may cause way more problem than STL for preparing to 3d-printing.

When it comes to cars (if you are thinking of buying a car model here on cgt) beware that there are tons of non-manifold geometry models wich are in most cases unprintable or requires tons of work so they can be 3d printable where in most cases is best to start from scratch than to waist time trying to get them to a printable level.
