move to path deform odd results , 3ds max

i made some track links within 3ds max . Ive then select the path deform moddifer . When i select move to path , The results are odd ,.. It increasing the object in size ;arge amount . please see video attached ..the reuslts seem very buggy .. I may have add the links by hand

Before you path deform make sure you reset the xform of the object and set the pivot to the desired location.

I use Tyflow for anything like that.....there is a free version and its great for aligning anything along a path. It gives you a great deal of control on the fly! Has a lot of other useful tools and modifiers such as tyconform. Give it a whirl! Used it here on this model to align the pearls along the crown https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/character/clothing/st-edwards-crown
