market.surrealmarket.com resels our models?

Discussion started by Mantas-Talmantas

So i have just found this site: https://market.surrealmarket.com

I found they have all the models i sell on cgtrader. I found out that other cg traders have their fake profiles there as well.

Check if your models are there - just take your cgtrader account name and add it to this url: https://market.surrealmarket.com/

mine is https://market.surrealmarket.com/mantas-talmantas

and i have never registered with them.

their login page is unsafe, so they might be after passwords to get models

OH MY... i found my account and some of my models too. It loooks like they're scammer's, there are few models that were never sold, so i don't think they get files, unless there was leak at cgtrader and we weren't told about it.

Anyway, i hope that cgtrader will investigate that and will take immediate actions against them.

Yup, they have stolen some of my models as well! But, i don't think they have actual models, since there are also some i never sold. They are scammers which can potentially hurt our reputation. Imagine someone buy and don't receive nothing, then they think it's your fault. CG Trader should report them to google to remove them from search results. Or even better if some legal actions are possible.

Hello guys,

Evaldas, leading account manager at CGTrader here. Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention.

Just so you know, we are investigating the situation. It's highly likely, as tomislavveg noted, that they don't have actual models. In any case, it's unacceptable and we will definitely take immediate actions.

Will keep you updated.

Hi all,

First of all, I want to assure you that we at CGTrader are invested in solving this issue together with you, our designer community. We have already contacted the website owners and asked them for immediate and full cooperation in removing your models from their listings. You can also do this via contacts they have on their website.

In the meantime, I would like to invite all the potentially infringed designers to fill a copyright claim to Google here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dmca-notice?pli=1& . As you, the designers, are the owners of Intellectual Property, your claims are more valid than ours.

I, Evaldas and other members of our team will keep you updated in this process. I would also like to encourage you to share the suggestions to your fellow designers on how to tackle this issue.

All the best,
Zilvinas Lesinskas

models are not even exists in our pages

This is what they said to me: We dont sell your models We actually link to cgtrader until you verify and upload your object your self. If we allow this site such practices, imagine all others following? It's incredible they don't comply to takedown claims.

Sahin I had a personal conversation with you two weeks ago, we spoke about what you are doing and you agreed its not right, I also politely asked to remove my work, you seemed very cooperative but up until now my work and label name is still on your website. Would you be so kind to please remove it now? Even if you link to here it still does not make up for the fact that you are using my work against my approval and using it for collecting email on your behalf, I do not agree to this use ok. Let us resolve this with dignity so that things do not need to cost anyone's time or money, remember that it is very easy to find every artist you are unwillingly registering and we can collectedly file in a complaint with the department of cyber criminality, just do not let it come to this ok. We know you want to make a type of CGtrader but this is not the way your going to get our trust or cooperation, your probably going to get more problems then solutions like this?

Respected? You can't even respect your own Terms: "– pretend to be Surreal or someone else, or spoof Surreal or someone else’s identity or spoof the Site". Take down all copied accounts. Now!

You alarmed CGtrader :-)
Ok, now I can see the transition to the CGtrader by clicking the download button.
You could notify the artists and there would be no problems.

You could have simply contacted us and offered to upload our models on your site. But if click leads to CG Trader i'm fine with that.

Respected company? Really? Since when creating fake accounts, lying and stealing is considered respectful actions?
I'm asking immediately remove all my models from your website and delete fake account registered with my nickname, otherwise i will be forced to fill copyright claim to google as suggested by zlesinskas.

It's not stolen. All links lead to your models.
Consider this an additional free advertisement.

not agree, using username, presentation without my permission for their own advertising is just fraudulent. it's not an honest business approach, they risk being denigrated by the entire 3D community with such behavior

They are hijacking traffic from CGTrader. I remember Cubebrush for example to join them. 90% they said, dropped to 70% quick. Had a pirate steal models, refunds for no reason, models that were marked as sold without income. A nightmare! But these guys? No words!

"They are hijacking traffic from CGTrader. " - realy???

Hijacking? Yes you are. And that is no problem for me, unless you start requiring people to register for access first, and make it seem the model is available for purchase directly from you. Don't try to sweet talk these guys, Dust.

They have changed a few things since yesterday: All of a sudden the login page is https. And now models are linking directly to CGTrader. Yesterday they pointed to a login page. So I do understand your "soft stance". My reaction is based on observations yesterday. Nonetheless, it's too late. I want those links gone. They ruined their reputation forever.

When you put link to your model on social networks, usually your intention is to boost your sales. When surrealmarket puts links to your models, their sole intension is to boost traffic to their marketplace. They just using you as a tool and are doing that in morally and legally inappropriate way. If you're thinking that they want to help you, then you're just fooling yourself. Next time someone might use your models and your identity to spin off their pornographic business, would that still be ok with you?

Yes, yesterday I talked with them for a long time. They corrected the transition from the registration request to the normal transition. It suits me.
Of course, they will not be able to compete with large players in this way. This is their attempt. They will understand.
If you notice - CGtrader advises to share links to your model.
There is even a button for this.
If someone advertises my model for free, I will say thank you.
It is important that the model is not sold without my knowledge.

I'll keep it under control. I even know who these people are.
I see no reason for panic. All diseases from nerves.
And yes, your right to demand removal of references to models.

They stole our identities, how someone can defend them after that, it's out of my comprehension. They're not advertising my models, they pretending to be me. It's one thing if they'd say "hey, take a look at this model by LemonadeCG" and completely another when they sai "hey, i'm LemonadeCG, take a look at my model". At very least it is immoral and i believe that it is illegal too.

They're stealing traffic from cgtarder and hurting reputation of whole market, so i want to believe that cgtrader will take serious action to stop that. In the meantime i'm going to fill google DMCA. Such behaviour can't be tolerated!

Everyone has a point of view on the concept of "advertising"
https://sketchfab.com/paperscan
https://www.flickr.com/photos/market-3d/
https://www.instagram.com/skydream3d/
Even the TS convinces to advertise its models everywhere. And if someone shares links to your model - it's silly to blame him for stealing, even more so if your nickname is specified.
Just a fresh look at the problem...
I'm too lazy to prove more.
I am calm
CG does not sell traffic, but sells models.
If all the ways lead to the CG - is it bad or good?
Let СGteam express his theory. I wonder how they separate advertising from theft of traffic.

Update: They finally removed my profile and models. Said I was overreacting. But this was me, acting calm. Be warned.

What a joke, i press on contact button and it brings me to another fake account with a name "contact". Very serious business, i swear! Cgtrader should banish all its chinese pirates to that place - would be perfect match!

I´ve found that some of my models are also in the site, and even if the buy button leads to CGT, I´ve not given any permission to anyone to advertise nor sell my models.
But they have the aim to steal designers from CGT, since they are just waiting for you to register and upload your models .
This all is not clear, and smells like a scam, I, too will take actions.
