Have you tried google lens?
Just wanted to consult, if anyone knows good tips on finding if the model is stolen or bought, basically just tracing models origins.
Things what i do is try to image reverse search color texture, render images if there are any. try to googling names of file, textures model might have, also material and object names if its a scene (max, blender or similar)
general search with what model depicts adding free, 3d model, download keywords.
does anyone know more tips? thank you

Are you trying to find if your students made the models by themselves, or if they downloaded from the internet and claim the authorship :] Basically you already said almost every action one can take within reasonable limits to find and trace model's origin. Usually that's quite effective way to detect stolen models, but only if thief didn't take sufficient actions to significantly alter the model, so that it would be less recognizable. If one wants to hide the fact the model in question is not originally made by him, one can quite easily alter it to the state that it would be very hard to find its origin, unless you already know the source model and can compare both models side by side.
