Decline in sales in the summer

Discussion started by pirinatoda

Are sales falling in the summer? Or are there other reasons? How is your situation?

Hi,

Increasing the amount of items by uploading the same scenes and models with different materials is a very bad sales strategy.
Waiting for stable sales in this case is not worth it.

Regards.

Previous years July was pretty good month for me. This years it's not. This month is catastrophic. Nothing from old methods doesn't works. I'm totally disappointed and demotivated.

Last month was great, but I can confirm this month, so far, has been extremely slow. Don't give up! Sometimes the methods you use today might not pay off for a couple of weeks.

Same with me. Last month was probably my best ever, but almost nothing in July. There is a lot of geopolitics that is influencing the markets as well as inflation which is probably causing uncertainty in a number of areas. In North America, a lot of travel restrictions have been eased, so possibly everyone is taking advantage of going on vacation and spending their money in other places. I'm not expecting things to change until mid August....but hoping for sooner.

@TazMan2000: geopolitics, post-covid word economy faults, but also some experiments of CGTrader with marketing. They are continuously doing changes with search and show algorithms, promoting "Hey, designers! Upload as more models as possible!" etc. as result i can say: on my field (3d printable jewelry models) I see the flood of obviously illegal pirated models and "designers" are uploading that crap by thousands per week (thousands per week for SINGLE "designer"). It suppresses possibility for the "slow workers" and for small designers and sellers. I guess same situation is with PBR's gor the visual production and gaming industry and with arch-viz (furniture etc.) models. I'm not sure, but from my point of view it looks and feels like it looks... (I'm sorry, my english is pretty bad).

skapricorn, your models by keywords such as "chain bracelet", "key pendant", "simple ring", etc. are on the first page in the search for the "Best Match" filter, unlike those who have 5-10 thousand models of jewelry. But of course CGT marketers, algorithms, etc. are to blame for everything . It's so funny.

I've given up on trying to work out the dynamics of sales, it seems like a waste of time. Some months are good, other aren't. Sometimes you can guess why, most of the time it just seems the whims of the market. If there is any real pattern to it, my sample size in sales is way to small to capture it. I just get on with making and loading models whenever I can and feel like it, and let the market sort itself out.

For me May and June have been good months, July at the moment is quite stopped, but it is the same as last year. Normally from June to August for me they are bad months, in fact in my country nobody seems to do anything during that period.

What I have noticed in these months is the total absence of support on the platform, no one answers queries regardless of whether you write to support or information.

Looks like we're all on vacation at the moment! you have to enjoy them!
