Hey dude, you give me luck, I just sold Mister Magoo on TS :)
Someone who sells models which are under Copyrights & Trademarks he doesn't own is telling others how to protect their models against thieves with copyrights. Thumbs up!
Personally I have copyrighted some of my models. this does not give any warranty against theft, but I must say that it impresses the thieves, when I send them the copyright certificate with the name of the lawyer designate to defend me. This allowed me several times to remove my stolen models from dubious sites.
You can't. Even the RIAA and MPAA with millions of dollars to spend on DRM schemes and bribing politicians to force ISPs to block download sites, can't stop it. If it's on the net it WILL be pirated. I feel that CGTraders is taking the best approach by keeping prices low so that the hobbyist will buy. I would only use TurboSquid (TS) items if I could get stolen copies as they are much too expensive for the casual user. I bought some great models here for a very reasonable price and will be buying more. I also like the idea that the artist keeps most of the money. I don't like giving money to some sleazy brokerage site like TS.
