Snake Model - Rigged and animation ready

Discussion started by jackfurneri1984

Hi guys,

I'd like to share my workflow for the king cobra snake

https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/animals/reptile/realistic-king-cobra-rigged

I started off with base Maya modeling (started with reference from the web and short clips).

After defining the base geo I moved to Zbrush where I started adding details like scales and things like that. For this step I partially created custom brushes and partially dowloaded some from the Web.

After that I retopologized the geometry and sent it back to Maya for the rigging process.

For the rigging I made a video showing the main feature that can be applied to the serpent:

Tips to animate my custom 3D Cobra Rig from Francesco Furneri on Vimeo.

At the end I experimented different light rigs and tried to make it as realistic as possible.

I'm personally satisfied with my final result.

It also won the third place at the VR animal challange here:

I like to hear your opionions.

Thank you very much,

Francesco.
