certainly, worth
Hi folks,
I reopen one of my older projects. Do you think it is worth finishing it and trying to sold it?
For now the interior has only empty rooms but the walls are in place, there is just no furniture. I want to add that and also finish the exterior(some nice patio or even pool). So ... is it worth the work? :)
These are just test renderers :)
certainly, worth
It needs a lot of work if you expect to compete with the top guys on 3D websites but it can be done. You should try to put in more details like this artist https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/architectural-exterior/house/house-052
Very nice. I cant compete with this level of skill but yeah, I hope to achieve something similar. This is just testing how it all fit together before i start putting the details in. I am just a self-taught :)
Maybe just put it on here as it is, for a low price, or as a free model?
You can never know how someone is going to use it, maybe for testing out some rendering tech while in a learning process or something, hoe knows? If it just sits on your hard drive then now one really benefits from the work already done.
You can actually update the model whenever you have time and motivations to do so. When people start downloading (even as a free model) you will probably also feel more motivated to work on this project as well?
For example, I have this Core model, it was relatively basic but still just uploaded it, to my surprise it actually sells so I made an extended edition and kept the old one also up for sale, now both of them sell.
Thank you, good tips. So i try to clean up my scene so its not so messy :) and upload it
Every model counts! Also the beauty of 3D models is that you can keep updating them until you reach the result you want. Don't sell yourself short. Even if you can't compete with the top artists it is worth pushing your model to a higher level especially when it comes to enhancing the textures, shaders and rendering. It seems the buyers on here are more interested in how the overall model looks and renders out as oppose to the geometry itself. They want to see amazing rendered models.
About that updating. In your opinion, what is better. Update current version with newer model and maybe add to the price, or upload completely new model with the new version and higher price?
Based on what the CGTrader team has been saying and they are the experts here because they have seen more people sell this way you should put this model in the free section. Then you should make an upgraded version with better features high quality textures, shaders and amazing rendering and put a link to the upgraded version on your free model. This way people can sample your old one and if they like the basic version they will most likely want to spend the extra cash to get the upgraded model.
Thanks for your tips. Now i am doing "final" renders so i will be uploading it here today. But still i dont know, it take some work, so i think it is worth something and not giving it away free.
Edit: it is up now :)
