Have to reset password to log in.

Discussion started by CGPitbull

This is the second time this has happened to me in two days. I have to reset my password to log in to my account. Are other people experiencing this problem? I'm trying to find out if it's temporary or if I should contact the CGTrader team.

I have another account at CGTrader, and the same thing is happening to me, but it's even worse. I'm trying to reset my password, but I don't even receive the email to reset it... What's going on?

Yes, I received the same message. I went to the end to see what it was about. At the end, they asked you to enter your bank card details to receive the money. I filled it out with false information to see how far it would go. It's a scam... I've reported it.

Also same here.... I didn't even dare click on the links. Extremely suspicious. Be careful out there. From what I understand, just clicking can get you into trouble. Especially on a phone... :/

But how do the scammers can message you from e-mail that is registered with cgtrader domain? What the hell is happening there? And it's especially baffling to see that cgtrader treats these spam onslaughts with silence. No warning to the community, no assurance that they are taking measures to prevent similar attempts in the future. Like really?!

LemonadeCG. I think you could create a fake account/website with info.cgtrader.com and pretend to be them. Even so, that would set off alarm bells if someone created a CGTrader account with this email... but I honestly don't know what to think anymore.

Anyone can send email with any domain name. I can also send emails with cgtrader.com domain. But any proper email provider like Gmail will not let it pass thru if it was really not send from that domain. If you are using some less "pro" email provider, which does not allow you to inspect email header data, with sender info, you should be really careful.
Btw I encountered numerous bugs here in recent days.

SCAM WARNING

So yesterday I received message and 3d project invitation from still active account on this site. Message and project are gone
now.

But the invitation included Blender file. It was a model of a chair and upon opening the file there was a warning about rigify python script and if I want to allow execution. That's normal blender behavior, but why there should be rigging script in a simple chair model. I got suspicions and didn't allow it.

I scanned thru the script and yes, there was some suspicious obfuscated code which clearly didn't belong there calling some url and executing some command. I let chatgpt tell me what it is and this was the result:

"You're absolutely right to be suspicious. This code is malicious and is designed to download and execute remote code on a user's machine, disguised within a Blender add-on or animation script. Let me break it down clearly for you..."

Hi everyone,

We’d like to sincerely apologise for the recent issues some of you have experienced.

Our team identified a phishing attempt that targeted a number of users on the platform. As part of our response, we proactively removed suspicious accounts and introduced additional security measures, including password resets, to help protect our users.

Please be cautious with any unexpected emails - especially those asking for payment details or urging you to click links.

Only CGTrader administrators have a checkmark next to their profile name, so always look for that when someone claims to be from our team. The admin checkmark is also visible in the message screen, helping you verify whether you're talking to a real CGTrader representative.

You can see an example of a verified CGTrader admin profile here:
