Can I use model from cgtrader in tutorial wihout including project files?

Discussion started by eingl12

I am making a tutorial about creating kitchen interior in 3ds max, and I would like to show how to use a free model downloaded from this site. I do not want to include any model files, but to show from where you can download it (link to cgtrader), and how to apply model texture in Corona Render.

Royalty Free license, which model I want to use has, says that I can not promote in any way this model. Is making a tutorial breaking this law?

Thanks.

Where did you find information that you can't promote purchased product? I think you may misinterpreted license text. You can certainly use model purchased from cgtrader in your tutorial, as long as you do not distribute model itself.

2.4. Without prejudice to subparagraphs 2.1-2.3 of this paragraph, the Seller grants to the Buyer who purchases license rights to Product and uses it solely as Incorporated Product a non-exclusive, worldwide, license in any medium now known or hereinafter invented to: (1) reproduce, post, promote, license, sell, publicly perform, publicly display, digitally perform, or transmit for promotional and commercial purposes; Making tutorial is somehow a digital performance and transmition, so I want to verify it.

That's right, seller had granted to you buyer rights to promote, publicly display, etc. So you're good to go, as long as you use the model as incorporated product.

Thank you very much for the answer, I am not native English speaker so I have hard times reading those licences, thanks again!
