3MF file uploads

Discussion started by robhoski

Hello,

Just about to embark on uploading a multi-part model. I can export the entire build plate as a 3MF project. It contains all the separate components in one file. And from what I read the 3MF format is more reliable than STL. Does anyone have advice about uploading my project as a 3MF file as opposed to uploading separate (and larger) STL files? It would appear you can still export any item from the 3MF build plate as a separate STL file in Cura. So why bother with separate STL files?

Sorry if the answer here is obvious, but I've never uploaded a model file to any site before, so I'm just hoping to find the best method.

Thanks!

"Versatile" is not the same as "reliable"... First time in my life I see sentention like "STL are unreliable".
"The bathroom locker is more reliable than a towel".

I didn't say STL were unreliable but I did allude to them being less reliable than a 3MF file. I'm not an expert in file types or even 3D modeling. This is why I asked the question.
