Why is my work not on site at all?

Discussion started by 7ka

I made a model of children's characters https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/character/child/characters-kids when I enter the name of my work into the search engine it shows 83 pages, I checked them all and I don’t see my work on one page who can explain to me why this happens?

Yes… Once again, you are experiencing a bad result of CgTrader's new ranking algorithm (which still hasn’t been fixed).

The situation is simple: because your product is new, it is placed towards the very end in the new algorithm (actually, it’s not that new, this issue hasn’t been resolved for over a year).

When you search for your product (”Characters kids”) within CgTrader, 83 pages of results appear according to the 120 product filter per page, but in reality, there are 21,822 results matching this search (though many of them are not relevant, but anyway…). 83 pages and 120 products per page mean that the total number of products that CgTrader can bring to the forefront in the search is 120 * 80 = 9,960. The remaining models (including yours) are not shown.

This 9,960 is the hard limit applied for the results in CgTrader queries. That is, CgTrader hasn’t shown more results for a long time, and there is no need to anyway. The main issue is that under such a category, newly created products technically have no chance because customers who perform this search on the site will not see your model at all (as long as the ranking algorithm works like this).

In some categories, where there are fewer than 9,960 models, newly added products would at least appear in the search results, even if at the very end (though their chances of selling are still minimal). However, in your case, this seems completely impossible.
