Thumb previews

Discussion started by skapricorn

Maybe my memories are kidding me, but i think in older site versions when user placed mouse cursor over the thumb on the search results page it showed pop-up frame with slightly scaled NEXT picture from the models description. It had sense for better model presentation. And since some moment it shows the same (first) picture as on the search results page... For what? IMO the thumbs on the search results page are not as small and scaled thumbs are not as bigger to have any importance for information about model...

Any opinions?

Yes, that was a little customer friendly feature that is now gone. If we speak specifically about this feature, there should be, at least, small preview window that cycle preview images when you get over a model. I think that a lot of buyers would appreciate that. If you look at ctg, every now and then something is removed. Sometimes i get the feeling that this site does nothing but rolling downhill, zero steps forward, 2 steps back, which is very bad and sad because it can be the best marketplace.

Of course the site is rolling downhill, zero steps forward. Meanwhile, according to PageSpeed Insights statistics CGTrader is ahead of almost all popular marketplaces (TurboSquid, Cubebrush, Gumroad, Artstation, 3dsky, Sketchfab, Creative Market, FlippedNormals, Unreal Engine, Cults, Pinshape, Thingiverse and Shapeways).

I don't care what other marketplaces are doing, they aren't getting money from my work, marketplace that have annual revenue and funding as cgt, can at least fix this damn site or create a new one. Maybe you should ask those who make a living here, how they feel about sharing their hard earned money in these hard times, ask them how they are satisfied with the website.

From your comment, it may seem that CGTrader has hundreds of billions of income, although CGTrader is far from being the biggest company. And the usability in general for buyers and sellers of the CGTrader is clearly no worse than that of the same TurboSquid or Gumroad (for example). The site is regularly updated and improved, this is a fact. Various minor issues are temporary and insignificant.

I guess you are talking about these updates from last couple of days: https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/technical-q-a/can-not-access-my-downloads https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/technical-q-a/infinite-loading-when-viewing-profile-downloads-models-etc https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/technical-q-a/i-cant-open-direct-messages https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/site-suggestions-and-feedback/page-navigation-mouse-cursor-focusing-glitches https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/site-suggestions-and-feedback/please-do-something-about-the-spam Should i continue ? Once again, I don't care about other marketplaces, what you don't understand about that ? No one said that cgt make billions, they make enough to keep more than one websites like this running in full order. Now, seriously, everyone here knows that you are cgt fanboy, so if i may ask you politely to avoid my posts in the future if you don't have something truthful and constructive to say. Have a nice day.

Great Scott! Considering the number of registered users exceeding 5 million, 5 posts describing problems, 3 of which are no longer relevant, this is of course indisputable proof that the situation with the site is truly catastrophic, simply indescribably terrible, like in the works of Lovecraft.

During sales the site operates with reduced feature set to spare resources.
This could be one of them (...or not).

I think the "bigger" the site the "bigger" the number of attacks against it, so security is probably the first priority, then comes to keep the payment system up and running and pretty much everything else is in the "we will take care of it...at some point" category.
I don't expect this "some point" to be anytime soon....

I've noticed this change not in the time of sales period. I don't think that good and smootly working UI was downgraded to spare resources. I think it's just broken.
