That's how cgtrader works. When you publish the model, the system automatically adds category as another tag. It's been like that since forever.
There is an issue when updating models, sometimes it will add 1 or 2 extra tags going over the maximum limit. It seems these are suggested tags - not ones I have placed.
Can we have a moderator check this please.
Cheers,

Ive noticed this for awhile too, however I feel that maybe the devs are not aware and raising the issue might mean we can get this addressed. Quality of life fixes will make us a lot more productive in the long term. Im sure if CGTrader were directly aware they would fix the issue - they have been doing well on this front lately.
So, You do not need to tag "rings" if You put your model into -> jewelry -> rings.
LemonadeCG is right 100%. I've noticed the same some monthes ago...
Thanks for the tip @Exact-3D regarding the category/tags.
I leave 2-3 slots free for the automatic tags, as far as I know it has always been like that.
Hi everyone,
We did some investigating and at the moment, publisher does add 2 model tags after publishing/editing model.
These tags are category and subcategory. We'll be adding this to our backlog for publisher updates.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
