Customer Feedback: Improving Customer Journey

Discussion started by eduardas

Hi everyone,

There are two major parts of our CGTrader community that are crucial for 3D model marketplace - one is designers, and the other - customers.

We'd like to focus this topic on customer feedback, getting more details into how it all looks from a buyer point of view. We'd be very happy to hear your thoughts on the process and what can be improved in terms of finding models, going through model details, search suggestions or any other part of customer journey.

Let us know if you have any issues, suggestions, notes or reviews you'd like to let out of your heart. We believe every part of the community would be interested to hear what it is like to be a customer on CGTrader.

Cheers!

I think for the 3D printing part of the site it would be useful to be able to search the models also based on how easy they are to print. When it comes to 3D printing you usually have the people who know exactly what they are doing and then the newbies who have never printed anything. I think it would make sense to have a distinction between easy prints that do not need high level understanding or knowledge of using support materials, special temperature settings because they have to be printed in ABS or else they won't work etc... in one category and then the easy plug and play prints in another section.

I noticed this since now I have a 3D printer that a lot of the fancy rings and Jewerly models are challenging to print as opposed to some other nik nacs or toys for instance that have a perfectly flat surface adhere directly to the build plate. Also some of the models are like a billion polygons so when you import them into Cura, Mattercontrol repetier host etc... if you need to modify them it is a huge hassle. Rotating, scaling even adjusting the position can cause a low end PC to crash or just stall for a long time. That also causes slow downs when the packets are being transferred from the SD card or USB cable to the printer making for slower print times.

When you are a 3D printing pro and have a high end PC non of this matters or affects you but we all know that there are plenty of buyers who are just students or 3D printing noobies and I think having a section dedicated to them would be helpful in getting more people to get interested in 3D printing and buying 3D printers etc... attracting more buyers to CGT

These days when people buy a 3D printer and they have no clue about 3D printing they get discouraged very quickly. The machines are quite hard to operate and most prints are very challenging to build.

The less hassle buyers have to go through the more likely they are to come back and buy more from us.

Do you think CGtrader would have an interest in using instant meshes? https://github.com/wjakob/instant-meshes#pre-compiled-binaries it is a free sofware that retopologizes models for free and at click of a button. It could lower poly meshes for 3D printing very quickly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6YKmSql1-o CGtrader already helps convert regular models to OBJ or FBX but I think for 3D printing Instant meshes would be very useful and it is free to use

I'm not sure which thread would be best to say this, but I was just thinking it would be nice if when an item someone has added to their wish list goes on sale or the price changes, they get an message notification that says something like: "[item name] is currently on sale" or "The price of [item name] has been marked down/changed from $[old price] to $[new price.]

This could increase sales of items a buyer has liked or wish listed, but might have forgotten about. Thoughts?
