Custom Categories

Discussion started by AcetheSuperVillain

I just saw the new user page layout today that separates models into hi-poly, lo-poly and collections. I like it I'd love to see some custom categories available. Like for my models, I would want to set up character basemeshes, outfits and hairstyles as separate categories. If you don't want to give away too much control, maybe at least let it be sorted by the site's existing categories, Character, Furniture, Vehicle, etc.

I've used print on demands (POD) for a few years, and started with adding 1 or 2 a monthe as time went on I increased it to 1 a week . As my skill went up so did my speed to the point I can get 2 to 4 designs done in a day, my libary stands has over 400 2d designs, categories are a must. And the lack of categories/ storefront layout option, is the main reason I'm decided not putting time into 3D modeling.

Granted 3d modeling takes more time, and I double I could make more than a few model a month. But the proccess of adding a few a month leads to long term problem of stuff getting washed out to sea. Beleive the rule of thumb is that a customer will restart the search within 30 seconds if he/she doesnt see what they are looking for.

Was hoping when Cgtrader the bundling opens they would followed in that line of thought and make collections atleast.

Dont want to do a POD review here, but considering 3D Asset platform are stuck in a pre-smarrphone era, I feel compeled to point a few things out
On the POD side, only 3 of a dozen sites has the options. Granted they all has some sort of bug.

But for usabily of sorting cafepress but they have a bad phone usabily, it would be zazzle or cafepress.

Sorting for Zazzle is not as good as Cafepess but they did take into account the smartphone.

Idealy 6 categorys (2x3 grid) before a scroll us needed.
