Tips to increase sales ?

Discussion started by mvg86

I got only few sales. Now I reduced all my model prices by a lot. Should I focus more on improving models, or can I make some good money from the models I already have in my profile? I am thinking of making a game out of them, but is there another easier way by selling just these models? I have improved my skills now, and soon will make more and better 3d models. But I definitely deserve few good sales right ?? Thats what I think correct me if I am wrong. I am also thinking of giving all my 3d models for free as well if I don't get sales now that I have reduced prices. And upload all my 3d models to blendswap.

Most of your models belong to furniture field, a crowded field, if there is any, so you have a lot of competitors, to low the price doesn´t talk in your favor, it makes you to appear cheap, and people wants to buy quality models at a reasonable price, most of them don´t care about the price but about the quality.
By the way, I don ´t thin k you get better sales at any other platform, if so, you would sell here too.
If I can advise you, your exterior models, forests ,snowfields, and so on are a better choose than furniture, at least you have the chance to create something good doing what you seem to like, there is also good competitors in this field but given that you need to improve your skills, better do it in the field you feel more at ease.
Hope this helps

Thank you. I have followed your advice. I have also skilled up generally. Not sure how much I know but now I can make complex 3d models. I am planning to make collections of few different kinds of objects now. Rendered just 2000 samples though for night time interior scenes but am thinking of going more samples but day time scenes are turning out to be crispier more easily. Not added atmospheric lighting yet though hmm maybe I should ? I was planning to focus on interior scenes and make for instance 10 bedroom models, then 10 kitchen, 10 living room and so on and then package them in nice medium priced collections for starters .

Hi there,

stereomanik has a good point. Don't drop your prices, it doesn't help you (you'll need more sales to earn a certain amount of money) and it hurts other creators too, as they will drop their prices too and this leads to a downward spiral. In the end, all quality content which you invested hours and days, will mean and earn close to nothing. You can always choose a different marketplace, but then you have to invest more time to promote and manage double amount (this is the trap I fell into, I uploaded my stuff on 4 different sites and whenever I make an update, I usually refresh only on those that are generating income).
So my advice on this would be:
- Quality over quantity. Improve your models and present them in a professional way (think of furniture magazines like Ikea).
- Fair pricing.
- If you can, create a high-quality promotional scene and make a hi-res walkthrough video, upload to Youtube. Include the scene into the package you sell! This will help customers see how they should use your models. You will need to learn a lot of new stuff for this (composition, light etc) but trust me, it's worth it.
- Always have a backup plan. Consider freelancing (this requires a good portfolio!).
- Use embedded real-time renderers like Marmoset viewer and Sketchfab. This helps the customer view your models from all angles, view wireframe topology, texture maps, etc.

I hope I could give you a few ideas.

Ok thank you for the advice, and I am somehow on this general path now (I think). Okay I will try to make promotional scene for my almost blank youtube channels, one channel has 50-60 subscribers I was planning to make more 3d tutorials on that channel and some promotional videos on main channel and so on. Rendering videos in Eevee is a good idea if I can make it real for animated promotional content ? Eevee seems to render slowly for larger scenes (with more image textures for instance) for me so I am planning to stick to basic scenes for now with eevee and then make lots of 3d models. Not sure if I am doing all this 100% right , but I keep on changing my 3d models generally ..
