Question on Freelance 3D Projects

Discussion started by breakie

Hey everyone,

I will be posting my first ever Freelance 3D project in the near future, maybe soon. Trying to find an awesome 3D artist that can create a alien model.

I was looking around for a muscle/bara-like alien model, did find some interesting/close to what I was looking for but didn't seem to play nice with Blender/not native to Blender.

That being said, I have a big question to ask - I want to be fair/be reasonable when offering a price, I know I'm not the top tier 3D artist and I know it takes a long time to create a model from scratch.

Details of request model:

  • Muscle/Bara-like Alien (standard feet and hands)

  • No cyborg/machine parts

  • No clothes/accessories

  • No scars/tattoos/markings

  • Fully Rigged Body(if possible mouth/face rig too) but no need for preset animations

  • Used for personal projects, maybe some YouTube videos on animation/scene building

  • Allow artist to resell

Price Offer: $200

Given the details - Not to be introduced as the bad guy/Not to be trusted buyer - Is $200 a reasonable price? should it be more?

I have seen models go all over the place ranging from literally $20 up to $500 depending on what's being purchased. Also checked from Freelance Projects, which doesn't help either - Showing range from $50 to $2,000.

Just want any feedback or opinions for posting a project.

Yep, $200 seems like a reasonable price, although some designers like to discuss the price in their proposal. It would be helpful to provide a colour palette and some reference images for what you would like, but make sure to specify that the references are just to get an idea and not to copy them completely. Also I would suggest specifying if the rig should have inverse kinematics or not and the desired poly count range.

Hope this helps, Locki.

Awesome Sauce! I will definitely keep that in mind, I will try and see if I can get some ref images for the model - currently at the moment don't have any images of the look. Thanks for the input/feedback!
