I wouldn't expect it if your description of the model doesn't include the lighting.
When selling a model here on cgtrader where I want to make it available in say modo, c4d, blender and marmoset formats, is it expected that each format contains not only the model but also any backdrop and lighting to completely replicate the preview images? Thanks.

I always tell in the descriptions what files produce the images in the presentation and what files do not render out of the box. Its always better to just be as detailed as possible about what is provided so that people never can get unpleasing surprises.
If you surprise them then see to it that its positive surprise.
