Lifetime access for my .stl files?

Discussion started by stardust3

Hello !

I'am an architect and recently started with 3d designing (optimized for printing) and 3d printing. I have already uploaded some of my designs in marketplaces and my personal website, but I dont't really feel comfortable with the fact that someone that buys my designs has lifetime access to the files. At the time I'am designing more complex designs for a new collection and putting so much effort and love into my work. I was wondering how I could sell a 3d model but give something like one-time-print access to the costumer.

That technology doesn't exist...yet. I think if it did, it would be problematic. What about failed prints? Currently 3d printers don't have the intelligence to determine if the print was successful, so a customer would be stuck with a model they can't print because of an issue with their printer.
I think technology that would prevent sharing would be a benefit, but that would be problematic as well.
