Discussion started by miaomiao3d

We will not be able to produce any new models until we sell something.

Spent our last pennies on research and development projects so as of

What do u mean with "broke"? Is this your main business? Most people (almost all I'd say) have model selling as a secondary job besides serious graphics work (they make models for commercial purposes and then sell them to make some more money) so it's not very common to go broke because of low sales (they are just a bonus to normal work anyway). But if this is your only activity, then you probably don't take it seriously enough and then you can't expect to earn much money from it. Make a website, start your own brand, make the models in better quality than the competition or do something that others don't do and you'll get your sale.
The more common things you do, the less sales you'll probably get.

learn how to market the product by yourself and don't rely on the site to do this for you... i bring my own traffic into the site to my products and i get a few sales... start slow don't try to live off of this money reinvest it.

1.It means I have no more money Richard...

2.No... the niche is excellent just not suitable to be sold on CG Trader... It sells better on sites like Amazon, in strictly paper cut out form... Again I was not able to sell it but others were able to sell my work... I am just not good at selling... I am the problem. No one wants to buy from me.

Yes Devvan is correct which is why I am not selling any 3D products anymore. You can't market something that no one wants or needs to buy.

I am done trying to sell anything I am just not capable and my time is better spent on other things!

well find someone to print and ship your models with a etsy store and or amazon store that way you design while they print and sell and market it... at the same time it doesn't hurt to navigate people to your product... select your fan base then hop on facebook find some groups related to it then go to town sharing... thats it... and you sit back getting paid on royalties (: thats what i do people sell my self for me but i still market it... this site will take some time to turn into a marketplace right now think of it more as a portfolio... (: good luck stay positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The biggest problem is that others have always been better at selling my work. I am just not a sales man and I don't think I'll ever be any good at it. I can guarantee that if I were to give my models to someone like Ricardas Marozas or Richard Homola they would be able to sell them.

I will not copy the text, read my message at the bottom of this thread
https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/topics/royalty-percentages
I also think I'm a bad seller, but the main thing to be persistent, look for options.
There is just something which I doubt. You buy these models, or doing it yourself?
If you have tried to make the business model of ordering from others and resell it in vain.
Anyway, if you do not know what model is most in demand.

To attract buyers, you must have style. At least until you go out on a big sale.
When I look at your model - I would call it a "bunch of stuff".
They are different in the number of triangles with textures and without belong to different categories.
When the buyer is looking for items and find you what suits him, he tries to find out - whether you have anything else in the same category and in the same style. Because the customer is not very convenient to work with models that are very different in style simulation. For it is convenient when there is a logical diagram of the standard model, then it is easier to adapt your model for themselves.

Yes you are right Gravity! That was indeed part of the problem. The models were created for so many different projects so the styles are all different etc... Also as Homola suggested I no longer work in the art field, haven't done so for over 5 years (as a full time parent I only get an hour or so per day to dedicate to this)so I was just hoping to make a little money on the side but it just didn't work out... Again other people have stolen my content in the past and made good money and I have often given my models to artists for helping me work on certain projects and they have successfully sold them. So the problem is me. I just suck at selling.

Don´t give your models away for free. Do more and more models or sell them elsewhere.

What Bruno said works also^^ don't be so down on your self its not a get rich tom. type of plan in any respect... never give the files away and if someone steals your design and makes a bunch of money you technically can sue them if you can prove its your intellectual property which this site covers on the personal use liscesne agreement posted if you select it! just went through the same thing... just the guy bought my designs to leak for free... and hes facing a potential law suit for posting my files for less than 3 hours hes looking at a 2000-6000k bill for it. don't let people step on your toes especially with your work.

I will continue making actual toys for my daughter but at this point I don't think I will even bother posting them on here.

I have been creating special building blocks to help stimulate young kids motor skills, paper cut outs, DIY remote control vehicle assembly parts.

All of it works really well but CGtrader is just not a good place to sell it... Not enough traffic from the correct customer base until they join up with Amazon...

^^ it would be cool if they did do that (:

Someone said that CGTrader is in the process of doing it... as in they are trying to bring their 3D prints to Amazon but I don't know when it will finally happen. When it does 3D modeling will become far more relevant and profitable then it is now.

Hey paper,

Don't give up just yet!
We are actually working with Amazon and we hope to upload many models in their platform as soon as possible. Hope you keep your head up!

All the best,
Eduardas
