If you started working on a project without securing the whole payment first, than, there is no money, you are scammed, you worked for free, and since you said that you handed work to the client and he never answered again, that's exactly what happened here.
I received an email, where I was chosen, the payment was obtained by cgtrader. do not work for free at least not as you say.
