What is the fastest way to gain Reputation Points?

Discussion started by marpro

Hey everyone,

I wondered what is the fastest way to gain those Reputation Points in a legal way because it seems that models from designers with more of these precious little Points ar more likely to be sold or at least seen while searching.
(There is probably a way to buy some services to like your images or something else.)

In 24 hours my model gained 8 Views, 2 Likes and 0 downloads.

One or two of those views are from me for sure but overall I get 2 Reputation Points from these likes. Because I don't think that I could do anything, besides to promote my models outside from cgtrader, to increase the number of views I don't think that the most Reputation Points comes with likes of models.

(Of course, you can like your own Models but that seems a bit dishonest.)

The "community ratings" seems not to work. Likes and comments are capt to a limit of, I guess 10 so this way is most likely not very efficient.

There is a bonus of +5 Points if you get a new follower, but I don't know how to follow anybody myself.

For uploading, you get +20 but I don't think to upload some crappy s*** only to get 20 points.

So the question is: How to get more of these important Points?

Thanks in advance!

Well you can also get points when someone buys your models and when someone reviews on of your answers on the forum ( +1). Most of the likes come from what I can tell from uploading and selling. From what I understood, a while back you got likes when someone used to download your models but that doesn't count anymore.

"it seems that models from designers with more of these precious little Points ar more likely to be sold..."

If somebody has success with his models it is because of the models (quality, complexity, originality...) not because of some reputation points.
So people with many reputation points has well selling (trending) models - they "earned" the points.
So think about models, presentation, selling, don't loose your time by thinking about nonsenses like reputation points. ))))

You are absolutely right. I just thought that increasing these Reputation Points would increase the chance to get models sold. (What is at the end the goal of everyone who uploads models here, right?)

But if you are really interested in the points - the easiest and fastest way (in my case) was the Community rating system - I "earned" maybe 90% of my reputation points there - but I didn't do it because of the points I did it because it was fun for me.
Now the reputation system (game) is broken. (((((

Sales generates points but points don't generate sales.

Good position is something that gets determined on amount of sales, positive reviews, views, likes, etc. It's all these different indicators that get calculated in a rating, for example it also includes the presentation score (amount of images uploaded, length of description, amount of different file formats, etc.).

Ok, thanks, besides that my average presentation score is at 9.1, I think that is pretty solid.

That’s true but points give informations to the buyers. For example, you have 66 models and a total of about 40 000 points. That mean many things like a global reputation (potentially good). You get 1320 points just by uploads of models, the others points come from sells and positive rates. So the buyers can know that you sell many models and have a good rate (see the stars above the score) and can think that you make good quality models and now potentially ok to buy a model on your page. Of course all others informations on model’s pages will help in sell and SEO.

Nobody would tell you for sure, but i think that reputation points has some influence on how high your models would appear in search results. And it's no secret that high position in search, is a major factor in getting sales. Even shitiest model has higher chance to be sold if it's on the front page, compared to the best possible model that is sitting on the bottom search results page. Reputation points aren't only silly number, they are pretty important to your success at cgtrader. It is in your best interest to ensure that your reputation is maxed out. Some years ago it was very easy to gain great amounts of reputation points daily and many sellers had exploited the system. Now it's much harder to do that, but certainly not impossible.

Good luck.

@lemonadis, good models do not stay in back rows (keep in mind everybody find his models good).

What I see is this, my bad performing models just go to the back and better performers get in front of me (even among my own models). Most of my points are made with my good performing models and it gave me relatively good reputation but it does not help my bad performing models. I see sellers with far less reputation then me with models in same category all way upfront and my bad performing models all the way in the back. Luckily in my case most of my models are in less crowded category and perform well, but I have a few in crowded category and they get out-competed by new sellers with far less points. My strategy is to simply stay away from crowded category’s and look for new possible value that is not already there or few of it and 100% I can bring something similar or better.

Consider this, if you have a supermarket and selling lots of stuff, you would want to use the front row to display the best performing/selling items. But at same time you also want new stuff introduced in these front rows (at random or outside prime time), to see if some models have potential and maybe deserve a place in the front rows more often. One would be a bad supermarket owner if no system is in place to recognize these good performing models from the bad ones. If it would simply depend on some points you can gain from forum activity etc., that would be a flawed system. In that regard rest assured, if your model does not perform it will get to the back and make place for a better performing model, no matter how many reputation points you have.

CGTrader now has this page which gives a detailed overview of all the ways to earn points: https://www.cgtrader.com/reputation
The highest point values are for uploading content and for referring an active user.

The points systems makes people gamify this platform. It would be nice to be able to have a Postitive sum game like sheep-it.
