Ukraine designer Tag

How would you know if someone is from Ukraine or not? I don't think that cgtrader is giving those badges left and right just for nothing, they probably have enough means to determine designer's country of origin, or residence. On the other hand, maybe you are simply confusing "designer from Ukraine" and "donation for Ukraine" badges? Those are two distinct things.

Example: cadcart. The 3d-villains that were registered as british business now selling models and are shown on CGTrader with the UA flag as "model made by Ukrainian designer". Couple days ago I've reported to support identical models in "Solitaire-3d" and "cadcart" stores (both are the big market killers). At that moment I've noticed UA flag on the "british" seller. Also infamous seller of all scraped and stolen from ex-USSR's 3d-print services seller ex-Shryas was "lithuanian" couple years ago but now he is "ukrainian" (anyway I knew he always was ukrainian...) Perhaps somebody (i mean CGT managers) are not angels. "Money doesn't smells"???

Hmm, now that you mentioned Lithuanians, i recall that i saw quite a few "Lithuanian" sellers who pretty unlikely has anything to do with Lithuania. Something strange is going on here indeed.

I got reply from support... They call it "it might be an associate account of CADcart as they have a fairly large team and affiliates"... So small designers and sellers might be suspended for breaking the "community and site rules", or even just because they are born and living in the "wrong" countries. But BIG BOYS can write their own "rules", make "affiliates" and "associates", or call themselves "victims" and wear "the right" flags just because it gives more profit.

@LemonadeCG, just for your kind information, CGT has announce Ukraine flag for the Ukrainian designer a while back, and CADCART and other account just got it in last 30 days, if he is the real Ukrainian why he had not get Ukraine flag earlier. I know him and I can clearly say that he is non Ukrainian. If CGT team is reading this, please email me if you want more details about him. I really can't understand how CGT is working, is this the way of giving flag to someone like CADCART? May be CADCART has a good relation with CGT and they have fixed this.

Sorry, i didn't know that. In the past few days there was raised quite a few suspicions about legitimacy of all those badges and flags. If it's true that some entities are using war in Ukraine to make more profit here, then it's absolutely disgusting. This makes me question who in their sane mind would want to donate to Ukraine through cgtrader instead of doing it directly?

I have tried searching for a ring and when I searched that I found some pendants and earring on that, when I click on the product that was a CADCART and many others who are using "#pendant" in the description of the ring which is inaccurate and search manipulation, but I didn't knew if this is allow in CG or not, thus I read teams and condition and found it is illegal to use "#pendant" for the ring, here is the terms for your reference, (I know CGTrader will not take action against him as they are supporting him. For me CGTrader is not working honestly and use favoritism)

I don't think that applying "pendant" hashtag to Ring or "Chicken" to Puppy is illegal. Maybe it's incorrect and inaccurate, but not illegal. At least the same model can be pendant and ring in the same time or pendant can be used as part for ring design... Anyway manipulating with hashtags is not a crime... Selling the same asset by multiple different accounts -- it's serious violation. And CGT KNOWS but ALLOWS that for some "big" sellers. Also covering with some flag without any real reason (just for getting more profit from (anti)war-hype) is UNETHICAL and IMMORAL.

@skapricorn I know that is not illegal but just read term 4.1 about uploading content, it is clear violation of clause 4.1 but I don't understand why it hadn't taken down.

Hi everyone,

please be advised that we are not able to add the flag icon manually since it is added automatically according to the personal/company information that is filled in the Payment agreement. If personal or business information does not match the stated country, the agreement is not verified.

The account can be updated with the change of residence at any time, as long as legal documents proving the whereabouts are provided to us.

Your mentioned designer has provided us with all the legitimate documents proving that they have headquarters in Ukraine, therefore a flag has been added to their models.

Hi Julius, If you see that your initiative to help Ukrainian designers is being abused by large entities that have options to easily change their account's country of residence, then maybe it's worth considering to change your strategy? Maybe there are other ways to help people who really need help, without letting unscrupulous people to profit from unfortunate situation?
