The user would be active in the community to get the reputation points. Starting a discussion, & interacting with other users of the community earns reputation points.

yes... I know the CGT Point system ... what I find curious is that a designer has nothing to show. It is the word "designer" troubles me

what if an user load 100 model and after that I deleted is item? ... I pretty sure that he still have is own reputation points .. so that's can be another bug ...

@asanna, why do you think it's a bug? Points are given for model upload, not for commiting to keep it in database. On the other hand, i noticed that if you delete free model, then all points accumulated from that model are gone. Now that i consider as a serious bug.

I mean that is a bug if anyone can make fake upload and gain reputation points ...

No, that's not a bug, that's system abuse. But if someone is so desperate for rep points, i prefer them to gain from fake uploads than from spamming all over the forum - it's way less intrusive.

I understand , but if you call that is a "system abuse" for me still a bug , cgt must to try to avoid any system abuse... otherwise reputation score loose the reason to exists and the platform itself start to don't have so much sense for artist reputation criteria

So what's your proposal to patch this "bug". To not give points for model uploads? Not good, because that would hurt many serious designers. To force keep models for points? Doesn't look good either, as that potentially could lead to many fake models in database, right? On the other hand maybe this problem don't exist at all. Did anybody saw someone mass uploading and yhen withdrawing models for rep points only?

no, You think to much sophisticated... not to patch just remove reputation points if you remove models ... simple enough ?! and also there is a real bug that charges points for uploaded model with wrong name ... I mean if you start start two different upload and try to add same name ...and then you just close the browser window you have double reputation points , and that's a bug... And just to be clear I want to report what I think can be wrong with cgt platform because I use it to sell my models... but seems that you just want a discussion and you don't want to see problems ... just my opinion

That is a strange way of promoting artists but does the guy have models uploaded on his personal site or other sites?

Hi guys,

We've recently started giving points for users who purchase models (see here: https://www.cgtrader.com/reputation). There are designers who sell models as well as buy them on CGTrader. On the other hand, some buyers are more active and sometimes take part in a discussion on the forum (which is always welcome).

Yes, on this occasion the word "designer" may not seem fit in this case, as he has no models uploaded. Although that does not deny he is not a designer, right? But that's just word play :)

It's true that we may have overlooked the fact that some buyers can be shown on top even if they have no models on their site. :) Although personally, I love the fact that deejay999 feels inspired!

Ok, so I'm blabbing here. If there is a group of unsatisfied designers, we will look at the options to change the concept that only designers with models are shown, we will gladly make the adjustments.

Cheers,
Eddie, CGTrader

IMHO, no need to change here. There are plenty of real bugs on which you should focus first.

Well so long as they are buying products I have nothing to complain about. We need as many buyers as we can get!

Agree- and why shouldnt buyers have rep points? but it might be prudent to think about in the future to have a way to specify that they are high rep buyers as opposed to designers. just a thought :)

Hello Eduardas,

No need to change, buyers are king, they can have the name or title they want :D

More often than not, buyers are designers too. You don't think that they buy models just to look at them and to admire at your incredible skills, don't you ;] I myself searched for a model couple of times when there was rush project and some spare money to spend. Didn't found here what i looked for, though.

BTW, during my search for specific models, it was then when i realised how important from sellers perspective is to properly publish the model. Since then i take this procedure very seriously. I would never even consider to buy model if there's only couple preview images, no wireframes and short uninformative description. Why should i expect that others will feel differently when will look at my models?

Sorry, for off-topic. Carry on.

For your off-topic, I agree. If it's a paid model, I want to see as much of it as possible before buying. Especially if I don't buy it for me, but for the company I'm working at. I will be the one to blame when the model does not work for the intended purpose. So presenting the models as good as possible is indeed important.

By the way how often updated "top designers of the week"?

I'm pretty sure every week, Monday the stats are reset and new points accumulated that week. Not sure what time zone they base the "reset" on though
deejay999 wrote

I did not mean when it reset. I how often it is updated? Every hour? Every two hours? Sometimes I have more points than those who appear in the list, but I'm still not in the list

Hey Deejay,

I'll have to check with my team, but beforehand it was every 8 hours.

@eduardas, would it load too much stress on your system if you'd make update more frequent, let's say every hour? Same as deejay999, me too for a brief moments get more points then guys on the podium - wouldn't mind to get my 15 minutes of fame :]

This may be a bit off topic, but, my designer rank has been firmly stuck in the same place for weeks now. I would think it would change based on what i was or wasn't doing. What's with it?

LemonadeCG wrote

It's only rank number stuck, points are working. It's a long standing bug. Maybe it will be fixed one day... maybe not. You can read about this there: https://www.cgtrader.com/forum/topics/designer-ranking-logic

Mine is stuck too. At least I don't think it would be still #0 by now.
