Some people will model something from a real life example and I can see how two modelers will have the same product for sale. I try to research on here and other sites to make sure my model is different than anyone else's, but when it's something generic(like my water fountain that you can find at any park), it's impossible not to run into a similar item. I'm currently making a large scene, and I have no doubt that items like faucets, toilet, etc. will run into a twin, because I researched these from Home Depot, etc. To some extent, we all mimic what we see, otherwise no one would recognize the items in your room or want to by them, unless they're making an alien civilization or alternate universe.
Yes, there will always be similar models based on the same products in the real world. If the models are simple enough, then they will probably be modeled and unwrapped very similarly as well. However, there really is no way for two products to be identical. Uv Islands, vertex order, textures, and of course renders will always be different unless the models were stolen.
If the model in question is replica of the real world thing of course it will be similar, but for God sake don't render that model in the same way that someone else is already done it. Be creative, make own scene, camera angles etc.
My main concern was not about the model that very generic but label design, thankfully he did not copied my logo too xD.
I think we need to patent our design nowdays
