Should I bake all deformers and generator objects? (C4D)

Discussion started by aardenon

Hi All,

I'm a new seller. I posted my 2 models of an easel and an artist's clipboard. They are made using Cinema 4D. Should I bake all deformers, subdivision surfaces, cloth surfaces and generator objects used to create these and make pure geometry objects with no extras? What do buyers expect in that matter?

Thanks for help :-)

You should always bake the models into clean geometry unless you sell it uncollapsed on some purpose. You probably want people to be able to open the models in various programs and it's not possible to open Cinema specific model in another program so it's always better to collapse it. Also in some cases, you would show people your pipeline or know-how that was used to make the models and it wouldn't be wise to give it away without higher price.
Anyway, people mostly expect you to sell them render-ready model and deformers or other modifiers could complicate it.
