Second Life Market support piracy?

Discussion started by mrnecturus

Today one of my customers pointed me on guy who resell my assets in Second Life Market.

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/74552

5 of 6 assets here is my property.

Links to my assets:

The guy who sell them just catted all images and putted his credits on my work.

I contacted support and got answer that I need to ask help from DMCA.

They by themselfes do nothing with thefts.

Here the answer:

"Thank you for contacting Customer Support regarding copyrighted material being sold through the Second Life.

Since DMCA issues are legal issues handled in accordance with the United States Federal Copyright Law, Customer Support for the Marketplace web site is unable to assist you directly.

All DMCA notifications must be filed in accordance with the DMCA requirements and are addressed as quickly as possible by Linden Lab.

No one of markets I know allows thefts to sell on their places. All markets investigate such cases and take action. I had cases in Torbosquid in Unity, in Unreal in CGtrader even in iClone market.

I heard about Second Life, but never interact with them. Is their behavior shows that they support piracy and thefts? If your are owner of market is it your duty to keep it legal. Isn't it?

Especially if Second Life make money on pirated assets which thefts sell on Second Life market.

Maybe I miss something?

Someone had experience with Second Life market?

Thank you!

P.S. I also advise authors to take a look if someone re-sell their assets on Second Life Market.

For example, when I made search for horses I so several similar to horses can be fond here.

Keep checking the marketplace. This sort of thing is pretty prevalent in Secondlife.

The worst is you have to send the DMCA by fax!

What? This is ridiculous! Why would they ask to send DMCA by fax, when they could insist on sending it in a bottle by a sea? It's like they actually want to receive delivery.

Ya their policies are not very consistent either. Another thing pretty prevalent in SL is virtual child pornography and childplay. All you have to do is report them. You don't need fax them a police a report for something to be done about it. Unlike when people copy your stuff. CGtrader should do more to protect the works uploaded here.
