Refund problem once again! Need more security from Cgtrader!

Discussion started by tcheloslv

Once again I was surprised by a $ 231 refund in my account, today my account is negative. I am being punished for a problem that is not mine. A complete lack of care of the Cgtrader site. It is not the first time, but today you lose me, I was faithful to Cgtrader, I only sold my projects on this platform but I see that it is not safe. Today you put in my account "Payment reversal - no cardholder authorization" since May/2019 purchases, we are in February 2020!

Anyone today enters Cgtrader, creates a fake account, steals our models... yes, steals our models, when we enter Cgtrader we expect security from the platform and we are still punished with reversal refund in our account. There is no control at all. In the platform should have more control when a user creates an account. Honestly it is very sad. From now on I will be using new platforms to sell my future models.

OBs.: Just looking at my sales I have already seen possible future problems with 2 users, just checking the latest sales. (Goodwin85 and Noobass). You will probably put these issues on my account later as well.

is there anyway to provide an option of not accepting returns?
frankly it's a disaster that anyone would buy something and after more than half a year they decide it's not what they wanted.

Hi friend! The problem isnt that!! Some one stole a credit card of another person and them he shop a lot of models from Cgtrader. He downloads a lot of models and now the original owner of the credit card act with the bank to reverse the transaction with cgtrader. So Cgtrader affects the modeller.

i see that now, my friend we are sadly under no protection whatsoever, amazon for example protect the sellers from fraud buyer with stolen credit cards, they have an insurance for that.

in this industry it's a big problem considering that CGT doesn't pursue legal actions against such buyers

Yes, that's why i will migrate my model to other platforms! Can´t depend only from Cgtrader.

Had similar situation once last year. Thanks god, it was small price... And totally agree: some protection for sellers is needed.
Another side of the problem: I don't know where to sell my models. Turbosquid is dead for me (too low royalty rate, price dictating from administration, no needed categories, totally outdated and retarded upload system etc). 3dExport looks to weak and I decided to go away from them last year... Have you any suggestions where we can sell 3d-print models (successfully) except CGtrader?

There is some places! I was on turbosquid also, but migrate for cgtrader because of low royalties! So only has Gumroad, Cubebrush, Gambody!

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link!! unfortunately the modellers will always pay the price for that!! We will pay for our stolen products!

I was also affected by this situation, but not so much.. a refund of only $10.5
Do you think this is a problem only Cgtrader or any similar sites? How is this issue solved on Turbosquid for example, has anyone come across?

I didnt have this problem on some of my models on turbosquid until now! but a have a few models there! One possibility would be for the modeler to be able to limit a number of sales per cardholder in a month, so if the card was stolen the damage could be little since there would be a dollar limit stipulated by him.

Hello there,

CGTrader uses a fraud prevention system already, however, to eliminate 100% of chargebacks is impossible especially when dealing with virtual goods.
So the problem is bigger than the 3D market - stolen credit cards can be used instantaneously after the theft and sometimes the security system is having a hard time identifying such transactions.
Most of them are being successfully avoided, however, we cannot stop people from being thieves.
More information about chargebacks can be found on the following page: https://ecommerce-platforms.com/glossary/chargeback

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

All the best,
Justas from CGTrader

It's ugly that you are not responsible for anything. Or find a solution to have less loopholes.

Today I saw a refund list for 130 bucks. All arguments of the CGtrader team are ridiculous. If they paid for their trips from their pocket we would not have seen such lists

Hi!
In total $40 of refunds this month (the same reason - "no cardholder authorization").

Have you noticed that in most cases designers who make models for 3D jewelry printing suffered?
The intruder is clearly the same person who will come back again and again.

You made a great website, I believe in you! ))
Could you write a script that would be able to track an intruder by the amount of data already known to his browser?
And if there is any suspicion, then block this transaction, if the technology "3-D Secure" is not used.
If the customer is not an intruder, he will simply write in support and his problem will be solved.

I hope my offer will be helpful.
Thank you!

I think that the best way is to limit the number of models a cardholder can buy in a month! by modeller criteria!

It happened again. An $11.7 refund on a transaction last month, for the same reason: "Payment reversal - no cardholder authorization". It's a user named "peresoysol" Why isn't it still banned? Dear Justas, is anything being done to make sure it doesn't happen again?

There is a vicious system in which you can buy something on the Internet anonymously. We live in a criminal environment, we are hung with locks from thieves, but these locks do not stop thieves.
Let's demand from buyers social-network authentication through Facebook or Instagram

Now models stolen from CGtrader are gradually distributed on warez sites.
Why doesn't CGtrader warn or DMCA takedown websites?

Would like him to come and answer. Don't be quiet.
