Yes, agree. The models produced by current AI tech are terrible, horrible, probably have no real appeal to regular consumers of 3D models. Most model-builders should familiarize themselves with these products and keep track of developments in this area. Just so that everyone knows. Actually, we have had "point cloud technology" for 3D model-building for four or five years now, and it has gained no traction in the marketplace. The current AI stuff us at about this level of development.
That being said, there are useful AI tools that can be a help to our trade. I am a serious (fanatical) devotee of Substance Designer, but there are textures I can build faster-better with a little help from some AI imaging tools. Thing like heavily grained old wood or logs that have lost half their bark. I still need Shader Magic and Substance Designer to complete these materials to a high standard, but the AI image generators give me a great start. I'm looking forward to advances in these kind of tools.
But, for model-building itself - nah. There is a reason that increasing efficiencies in polygonal and NURBS technology is a pre-occupation for the firms like Autodesk. There probably will be a market for people who play on their cell phones - that is, people who want to create and use a 3d model on their cell phone. That's OK. This isn't the marketplace most of us are dedicated to.
