Plugins Used

Discussion started by MS--Studio

Hello, everyone!

Those of you who use Blender as a modelling software, like me, will know that it is pretty much made up of plug-ins, created by the vast community of users.

Now i wonder:

1) When I offer a model created with Blender for sale, what is the discriminating factor in deciding whether or not to tick the "Plugins Used" box?
Which plugins should the box be activated for?

2) Is the use of plugins to create 3D models a discriminating factor for buyers? Is it preferable to use plugins or not to better sell models?

Thanks for your help!

1. It should be activated if you are using plugins.

2. Why would it be discriminating? Its just information for the customer so they know whether or not they need to either a) buy the plugin required for the purchased item or b) download the plugin. I would also put in the description the version number of that plugin (eg. Vray 5.0) so they understand which version they need.

Thank you for your reply! So you think Blender users should always check the Plugins Used box?

It doesnt matter about what software you use (Blender in your case). The only thing that matters is letting the customer know if they need additional software/plugins to use the purchased item. If it cannot be run in the vanilla software then they should be aware.

Perhaps I have not understood correctly. The important thing is that the scene or model opens in the software used without the need for plugins. Is that what you mean? So you don't mean the plugins used during the process of modelling, texturing, etc... but only if the model can be opened in any software without plugins. Is this correct?

If you use plugins, activate the plugin checkbox and put in the description what plugin the customer needs and the version of that plugin.

If you collapse all plugins so it works in the vanilla software then you dont need to activate the plugin checkbox - since they dont need it when purchasing the model.

Think of it like anything you buy in real life. If you purchased an electric dog collar and it says 'Batteries included' then you dont need to buy batteries. If it says on the label 'Batteries NOT included' then you know as the customer, you need to buy batteries for your new product.
