Import .Obj or .3ds with their textures in Poser.

Discussion started by massicorporation

I'm not able to render the textures of a 3d model, purchased here at Cgtrader, in Poser.

The folder does not contain any files Mtl, I'm no expert... I just need to
do simple render standard unpretentious but Poser not charge me any
texture. Please help me.

I need a basic aid.

check to see if any texture files came with the model at all. it is likely its native format isn't for poser and so you will need to assign the textures to the model's materials inside of poser. I have poser but honestly do not use it so much so i can't instruct you how to do that. but i will bet you there are tutorials on youtube or so. So 1) find out if you have texture files that came with the download. 2) if so, then find out how to manually assign them to the model material slots. 3) if the model didn't come with textures, contact the artist and ask for them, as it has happened to me that one i uploaded had a problem during upload and things were missing. What format did the model come in?

also, if the .obj version has no mtl file then the materials were likely not exported (which may mean no materials came with the model at all) and the .3ds won't have an mtl file but should definitely have material slots which are hopefully appropriately named to match the texture files names) so solution will be different depending on which format it is. Also, it's possible that poser imported the model without textures assigned. It has done that to me before when the texture file paths were not relative and the program couldn't find them because the location assigned to them didn't exist on the drive i was loading the model from.
