How to deal with malicious negative rating.

Discussion started by qur

Now another customer buys one of my products and he can not open the .rar file and immediately gives a negative rating. Why? Because he is so moron that he can't even read the other comments which are about how happy other customers. Or he can't even think a basic google search about how to open a .rar file or what the F*** is a .rar file. No, he is so clever and thinks that the product is shit and needs a shitty rating. Or he can't even ask the guy who put that model on sale and online all day long checking on his other monitor what the F** is going on on CGTRADER.

Of course, I've opened a ticket for this issue again and I'm sure cgtrader will resolve it asap, but again WHY??

There are two options here :

1. the guy is really a moron.

2. the guy has a malicious intend. He finds good selling products that are good competitors and buys and gives a negative rating.

I want to think he is a moron, otherwise, if he has malicious intend then this means the market on cgtrader can be manipulated which is not ideal if cgtrader finds a solution for this issue in the long run.

I can't yell to anybody right now so I opened a forum topic :) But WHY??

Don't be so frustrated.
There will always be some customers like that from time to time and as long as CGT can fix such ratings it's not a big deal.
Imagine instead of this you had just discovered that your models were stolen, bought with a stolen credit card and you have $150 worth of refunds and negative balance for the month...
Feeling better now? ;

Yeah, it sucks. I doubt it can be resolved. By the way regarding your problem, maybe you should just upload zip file instead, to avoid such cases in the future.

Or how about having customer who bought your model and immediately asks for refund and gives you a negative rating because he can't subdivide low poly game model that isn't meant for subdivision (on purpose) and cgt refund him ? Don't get me wrong, please next time double check before calling someone a moron ...

If i would be a cgtrader support staff, i would not remove that negative rating, not at least until the seller would learn to show a little bit respect to his customers.

If he had shown any respect to my work or my time by simply askin why he cant open the files or answering my messages than I would show respect. But after 10 minutes of his download he gives negative rating. Respect is two sided thing. He doesn’t ask or return messages. His lack of klowlage and arrogance returns me negative rating. WHY? And this is the third time this happened. I may be a seller. But i am a person too. Respect goes two ways. Sorry.

Apparently, a very frustrated "person too." Sorry about your bad day.
I'm kind of with LemonadeCG on this kind of problem. It is important to be pretty consistant in your patience with customers. To me, it seems that you jumped pretty quickly to calling this person a "moron" - when it appears that this person just doesn't know what is a *.rar" file. Since a *.rar file is not as common as a *.zip file, there are people who don't know what these are, or how to open them. We have to expect these kinds of things.

And whoever this person is, he or she certainly can read this thread and see that you have called that her or him a "moron". Not only a definite lack of respect that is maybe two or three notches worse that the lack of respect you have infered for yourself, but now anyone reading this thread will see that you are inclined to think of customers as morons.

Unfortunately, it is common for inexperienced customers to fail to seek help, and to fail to reply to messages that you might send them. We can see that you are quick to reply to customers that have purchased your products - which is great. But, many customers are wary of messages from 3d model vendors, thinking that they wish to sell them additional stuff, or they've had bad experiences being spammed by vendors, or their e-mail services just filter out solicitations from sites like CGTrader. So, they fail to return or to come back. I think most of us have had this experience of a customer failing to seek help or failing to return. And a bunch of us certainly have had an experience similar to yours.

So, you are a great model-builder. Your stuff looks very good. It would help to mate those skills up with a deeper well of patience for customers who should be considered to be new at this game. Sometimes, we each just have to heave a big sigh and suck it up.

ok, I can accept that maybe "moron" is a little harsh for some cultures and apologies for that. I won't remove the comments or edit them here. Everything should be as it is. If he/she has time to read this he/she should know what we are talking about (Ps: I have never named any customer here). But most of the customers that had problems asked directly and resolved the issue. There is a button on every page to ask for help. If you don't ask for help and immediately after you download the product give a negative rating ( in my opinion rating are important on this site) this means you are malicious and trying to hurt my business. I think this is not ok. Again apologies from the community for the word "moron"
