Dumping on CGT trends

Discussion started by SanyaLaneev

Hi! Why CGtrader encourages dumping, showing it on trend list?! Broken algoritmes?! Good quality to extreme low price ratio = trend?! Or it is politics of CGtraider aimed at ruins autors? I think, 3D stock must protect authors at prices dumping, but not advertise it. I think CGtraider must fix dumping getting into trend list.

Yes, authors can to appoint any price, they has the right do it. But, dumping in trends shows an example for others authors to an example to follow. And tomorrow we will have all cars by $3! (cars for example, really any things).

Absolutely agree.
The horribly underpriced car model is placed in trends more then 10 days (I think).
Before there was the Evemortion interior model for 2$ (later the price was corrected).
Then customers come to CGT and say: "Ou yes, completely unwrappped car model with interior for less then 5$. Great. Is it the new standard for car pricing?".
And it is not only about trends? Also the best much algorithm in product search.
How is it possible that this van model is placed on 1st page of "van" search result?

How is it possible that this model is placed on 1th place of "train" search result?

Yes, but every customer who bought that kind of a model (underpriced) is risking to buy stolen model (lets be honest who will sell laser scanned 200% accurate real car model for 5$)and to be sued by copyright holder wich is already happend to someone here (it was mentioned on other topic here). Long story short-guy bought multiple car models (or something else I don't remeber) for mobile game and when mobile game went on sale he was asked by game company to remove models because those are ripped from their game. I can tell you that out of 10 car models 9 is stolen. Thieves are creating unnecessary competition here and thats the problem. Its not underpricing, it's the fastest way (they think) to get money by scam. Underpricing is when someone legit like you lower their price to this level wich i doubt will ever happend.

And this 5$ high-detailed car model of premium quality on 1th pages of product search:
https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/car/luxury/bugatti-chrion-2019-3d-model

You don't have to love Turbosquid but at Turbosquid such suspicious model would be placed at lat page not on the 1th.

There is much more stolen content on TS but prices are higher because of TS policy towards thieves but thats the topic for some other time. Btw that Bugatti model is stolen from CSR2 mobile racing game...

I doubt that there would be same model at Turbosquid which would be sold for example for 50$ or 120$. At their 1th page there are only correctly priced models from serious sellers like Fischermann, Hum3D etc.
And theoretically it doesn't matter wheather it is stolen or not when it is priced correctly and it is not destroying the 3D market generally.
So the biggest problem is price - it is bigger problem not stolen underpriced model than stolen correctly priced.

And what is the solution? Correction of search algorithm. Higher priority for higher price. Or penalise models which have significantly lower price compared with average of some category.

The whole point is to get money and the best way to do that is to offer same quality for lot less. Thats what thieves do and that affect prices directly, get rid of thieves prices will return to normal thats all.

So in other words - teoretically it is not problem when somebody will sell stolen car model for 120$. It would be also very dangerous for such seller and it could be considered as serious criminal delict. Problem are the 5$ models and problem is that such models are placed at 1th page and in trends at CGT.
LowPolyVehicles wrote
It doesnt matter on wich page model is, if models is specific and special enough. Of course if you models something thats already exist on 10 pages here on cgt its good to have model on first page but not mandatory.

Yes but "specific" is relative. When somebody search "Bugatti" it can be special/original/specific when there are for example only 10 Bugatti models.
But when somebody seach for any car, it is not specific when this stolen Bugatti appears at 1th page.

So the only point which I want to say is that solution is algorithm (search and for trends) which penalise underpriced models. )))

Or CGT employees should remove such models manually from trends. And sorry that I am mixing trends and models catalogue (search results). I would apply higher price priority on both. Both is destroying whole market.

There is a lot of factors that are dictating how your model is placed and that is cgt policy and all I can say is that cgt set that as best as posible to suit their bussines and that's all. My point is only in regard unnecessary competition wich is the thing that is destroying other peoples bussines here. For me it doesn't matter on wich page model is as long as you fight 5$ stolen models with high quality. Its very small percent of customers who buys first thing they see.

Ok I respect your opinion. I only think that customers which are making generic searches like "car", "train", "human", "female", "ship" are not scrolling down across dozens of pages but they buy models from 1th, 2nd, or 3th page not from the 20th page. So it has big educational impact what is displayed on 1th page and in trends. And thieves will exist forever so it is rice which is not possible to win. So the easiest way how to eliminate thieves is higher price priority. So it is all from my site (I have no other ideas) and have a nice evening. :-) I am "occupying" this thread too much and I leave space to other people here. )))

I understand what you are telling (and Im not telling that you are wrong is just 2 views on 2 different things that are connected) but thieves will start to increase their prices and what you get ? Competition on the first page, actually they started to increase prices in order to look legit and after this forum topic more of them will do the same. Good luck.

Ok I will replay even I wanted to end. :-) I think that thieves will never sell car models for 100$ because they would get into serious troubles. Take into account that CGT demands ID card photo/scan when you want to be paid. And with high prices it would become serious criminal delict in many countries. And buyers would demand refunds if they paid high price for stolen content. Not like 5$ which nobody cares. So with higher prices thieves will became more visible because more professional customers (which prefer correctly priced quality content) will buys models from them and professionals will take it very seriously.

I won't continue this discussion, I will just say to you: You have no idea how wrong you are about thieves. And will end there. Good luck.

I don't think there is a point in arguing which one is worse.
Both problems should be addressed by CGT (and all 3D markets) to have a fair, healthy marketplace.

LowPolyVehicles wrote
Come on Trimi let us "argue" (altough I dont see this as arguing but whatever) a little, at least that's all we can do because you know and i know that cgt won't do anything, maybe they should start with fixing forum notifications.
