Do fbx models sell?

Discussion started by vr-7

Hi,

I wanted to ask do models in FBX and OBJ sell or do I have to make application files (for 3DS Max or Maya) with shaders already set up?

I'm wondering if buyers are OK with buying fbx or obj files and setting up materials and shaders themself or do they prefer a final product

I'd imagine the buyer is going to buy your model in whatever format it's in if he/she really has need for it. Then there are video game assets which will always use formats like fbx/obj and often require manual work to connect all the different textures to make up the material anyhow.

Your best bet is publishing the native project file as well as the other common formats, that's what most people seem to do.

Thanks for reply. So game objects would sell as fbx or obj but I guess arch-viz models would not. Do people want max files for arch-viz with probably Vray materials set up?

I would say give all formats u got . It will increase model score as well as many renders or even screenshots if u already put like 7 renders . Model score is important couse it can affect its position on site in compare to other models. Read about it on FAQ .
